As I am watching this painting you are creating and I get to the part of the video (1:04:01) where you start to talk about the steps & the door and the life it has seen throughout the years, I became so emotional and tears came to my eyes. You are not only a wonderful artist, teacher, storyteller, but someone who see beauty in things that others may overlook. I have noticed that developing in myself as I have dove into this new wonderful part of my life. I see things differently now when I look at simple everyday things that one who doesn't paint may not see and I owe that to you. I hope you truly know how much you touch people and how much I appreciate what you and John do. Being someone with an chronic illness(Multiple Sclerosis) and always thought life could never get better, found painting a way to escape the pain, and waisting my life sitting in a chair watching t.v. I couldn’t agree more!! I just started painting about 8 months ago and had I not become disabled and suffer numerous chronic illnesses, which even prevent me from painting but I binge tutorials like they’re Netflix, anyway had I not became forever sick I would have never discovered art because I was too busy with everything else. This has gotten me off 65% of my pain meds and that makes me elated!!

Have to tell you, I went to Michael's today to get me Stucco....none on the shelf. An employee was stocking paints so I asked if they had anymore she said no and added that for some reason the last few days the stucco flew off the shelves! All I could do was laugh and think "Art Sherpa"!!!

I watched about the first hour last night.... wrote down the colors of paints that I don't own already... I couldn't find the exact one you had listed... The Quinacridone Nickel Azo gold. I found Quinacridone Azo Gold... but it didn't have the word "nickel" in it I believe. And, it was only available in Golden (of the brands I looked at). So, I think I'll have something close enough to use.. I agree, Cinnamon, it IS a pretty color! And wish me luck, that the tubes of paint I did order will not be ruined because of the really cold weather we are having! I contacted Jerry's and talked to someone about it.. and also did a little research. It seems that the manufacturers are aware that their acrylic paints can be frozen and thawed possibly multiple times before they get to the end users! Ack!!! So, anyway... I went ahead and ordered what I needed and we'll see what happens (I also didn't have any of the Stucco medium, so that's coming too. And unfortunately I guess I'll have to wait a while to get much done on this one :-) Thanks again!

My tube of golden has the word Nickle in it amzn.to/2hECPK1 I also had the Red Oxide listed and a possible alternative. BUT you know mom loves Azo gold . I wish you tons of luck on shipping . golden bounces back better from a freeze over other brands in my experience

You should see my mom all over this one. I spend a long time as her studio assistant when she was doing a street Scene a day. Not even exaggerating in that . 48x60 street scene everyday. I did a LOT of underpaintings , stucco, brush washing and cap replacement. Though this design is mine 100%. I ferreted out this door and knew it needed to be painted

My art sherpa, I LOVE this painting! Can't wait to do it. Quick question. I'm finishing the Starry Night tutorial that your mother posts on her website, and I just bought a new jar of Liquitex Modeling Paste Gel Medium. Would this work as well as the stucco effects medium?

Okay so I'm really really really excited to try this but I'm on a more limited budget. I only can do liquitex basics right now. So what would be a good substitution or color mix for the azo or red oxide as you suggest? Also, I don't have the stucco, but I have a crazy thought. Could you color tint your gesso and use it with a palette knife. I know if wouldn't be as imposto, but would it work to cover the brick and get the effect?
