If you were to buy this, and then mod it, so it uses USB to charge instead of cigarette port. you could essentially use it as a tablet that uses your phone as a hotspot and needs to always be connected to power

For CarPlay, I’d rather it be a replacement for the old head unit in the dash like in a 12 Camry but there is so much that is hardwired into the system and I’m not good at electrical stuff at all

Its relatively simple to splice the wires just ensure your colour matching for the new adapter i put one in my 05 chevy Silverado and i had 0 electrical experience prior just strip the wire and buy good merrets that will hold it for years to come and youll be fine

They make dash harnesses to plug into the original harness in the car and all u have to do is read the manual that came with the harness and new radio and match the colors from there and best part steering wheel controls will still work and if selling the car u can just put the old radio back in

Japan Imports still use a standard single or dual din housing… they wouldn’t change the housing all you need is a flipped faceplate

Id do some more research but it should only be flipped like the other guy said, idk what vehicle you have but you could also look in the Japanese aftermarket and order from there and have someone install it. Whatever you do if you don’t have the expertise you will need to find someone to install it for you, no different from taking your car to the mechanic, just labour cost mostly.

I just bought a Pioneer DMH-1770NEX for my 2003 Honda Civic LX and it works perfectly. I can listen to music wirelessly through Bluetooth but using apps like google maps, Waze, pandora, etc. requires me to plug my phone in. No biggie for me since it keeps my phone charged at all times via usb cable and I have Hands Free calling. Win Win for me since it replaced my factory unit which had a CD player compartment with AM/FM radio which I got tired of listening to going or coming home from work.

Yeah I’d don’t really get the separate piece screen just replace the unit itself and have someone install it, should be E tech guys in local shops that will charge lower cost, I checked at my local automotive electronics department shop and they said they could run a quote based off more details needed from me and I told them and showed them the kit I got and gave me a quote for 235 for the install and boy was it worth it, rear camera and blindspot detection, 360 panorama sensing and rear and dash cam!! Sooo worth it, my cars basically a modern car, 2011 Accord 2 DOOR coupe and boy does she fly!!!

This is just an overpriced fm transmitter for the money it costs you could just buy a new stereo car stereos between the 80s and a few years ago were pretty universal

They also work through aux, and basically makes your existing system Bluetooth if you don’t have it. You get android audio and Apple CarPlay Which means maps, phone calls, waze, messages, podcasts, screen mirroring( for when your parked) which factory CarPlay displays don’t even support and more. You also get all that without having to touch your phone while driving and not tearing apart your radio and/or dash board. Some people’s climate controls are integrated into there existing stereo display and you could lose ac and some factory radio controls. Not to mention a good car stereo cost 2-3 times as much, definitely not sub 100 dollars if it’s not some cheap garbage. Add even more to the total if you have to get it with custom fabrication to keep those controls. If you don’t have the experience to do it yourself and/or doin don’t wanna spend hours taking apart your car. You can pay a professional and add another 100 dollars to the total Universal doesn’t mean universal,but plug and play usually does. This is the future of FM Transmission if anything, it’s works the same way but you get everything a 2023 car would get with a display.

some make cool ways to do it, but don't know about this one exactly. 1. you can connect it through aux 2. there's a feature where you put them on the same radio station (any random one works) and hit the "on" button and it will wirelessly transmit which is actually pretty cool 3. If you car has bluetooooth it works that way but don't recomend bc it's laggy as hell soemtimes
