@@ManSquatch777 When it finally hit me that the drummer for Gojira was actually playing those double-bass parts, with that power, at that speed, with that accuracy, without any cheats, I discovered Mario Duplantier. This was years ago, and I have been obsessed with Gojira ever since. For me, that's the #1 thing that keeps bringing me back to this band; as a lifelong drummer, I have to marvel at how unbelievably clean Mario's double bass work is; sure there's lots of other guys that can go that fast, but not like that; not with that much power; you can hear the air in between each stroke. In theory, this is a fairly simply band; but in reality they're TITANS! Honestly, Gojira TOTALLY flew over my head for years before I finally realized: THEY ARE ONE OF THE GREATS!!!

If you like prog stuff inspired by classics like King Crimson, Genesis, Rush etc definitely check out more Opeth. They started as a pure death metal band, then went more and more prog until they went full prog rock in 2011. They have a big discography and everything they've done is great. I recommend Blackwater Park or Deliverance as a good starting point. Or if you want pure prog rock then Cusp of Eternity or Moon Above Sun Below

Both studio and live are good, but I definitely prefer the guitar solo in the studio version. There's nothing wrong with his playing in the live version, but the "voice" of the guitar sounds horrible. It just stands out so awkwardly in an otherwise brilliant live recording that it taints my enjoyment of the whole song.

Sick review! Love all the insights you provide. I'd recommend Vacuity, also from Gojira. That song is absolutely wicked, heavy as all hell.

Oh yessss, thanks for doing Gojira. I could put up a whole list for gojira songs you should listen to. Heck, probably just listen to every song. But if you were to do another, maybe do Esoteric Surgery. This song is killer!

👍 One of the top metal bands today. There's also by them The Heaviest Matter of the Universe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amPTXnqVnZdsr7c or Oroborus: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKjIdZ9qipqosKs to name a couple greats. Also the band Aviations with their song Outliers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jn6cpaRrmL1rpdk Also cool hat. 🤘

I honestly don't think this is the best specimen of Gojira for this kind of reaction. The Art of Dying is great, like others have suggested, Born In Winter is a favorite of mine but idk how complex the theory is.

Gojira is fantastic, glad you found them. Not sure how to post suggestions for other bands, other than in your latest video. Did a search for these on your channel and came up dry. Two MUST add bands (plus a recommended song): - Leprous (Bonneville) - Vola (Stray the Skies)

Really been enjoying your channel and your analysis. One of the biggest songs of the year came from a little known band that has Berklee students composing, have to recommend Aviations // Outliers

This was a pretty cool video. I enjoy Gojira and it's interesting to hear a more technical analysis of their music. Keep it up man!

I know I mentioned this on your Opeth video but I got to see Gojira with Opeth and Devin Townsend at Red Rocks in 2017. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen! Gojira was incredible

If you choose to do more Gojira, you are in for a treat. They are one the BEST bands out there. This song isn’t even their best or most creative work. Also, watch their live shows. They are AMAZING live. Again, one of the best bands live. You have only scratched the surface with these guys.

Just wanted to say I love your reactions and I am happy to indulge other projects you get up to but some of us "react crowd" people are WAY more likely to watch if it's a band we love, but we stick around if the channel is good and you got your own cool thing going on. Hope it evolves into a satisfying endeavor for you.

Geebz - I fell down the rabbit hole of reaction channels a few months back because I was curious if people noticed the nuance type things I did in the music I love. The journey has been funny, revealing and most of all fun. This is one of my favorite channels. Keep up the awesome work!!!! ps. I'd love to see a reaction to a favorite band of mine by the name Architects, the song Doomsday perhaps.
