No artist has ever moved me like Jeff. His work, especially the live performances are a timeless well of beauty.

Jeff Buckley is one of my favorite hidden gems... "Grace" is an unique song.

Everyone fawns over his Halleluja, but Grace is really the essential track.

Absolutely, there's a live performance on youtube where he plays Grace on some British TV show and it's one of the most jaw dropping vocal performances I've ever heard. I really hope Geebz does a reaction to it someday *the video says BBC Late Show in the title, song starts around 40 seconds in

I once saw a rendition of Grace that he did live on tv somewhere on youtube way back, not long after youtube became a thing.I have tried finding the performance from time to time, but have been unable to. Might be lost media at this point. Or only existing on some tape somewhere in some archives who knows. Makes me sad.I don't think I'll ever hear that particular performance ever again. Jeff was my obsession for a 1-2 year period back when I was 15-16 years old. That guy could sing. On a lighter note, have you heard his dad's music? Tim Buckley. Check out "Once I was". Great song.
@thomasgoddokken Жыл бұрын
@@cloudbloom yeah that one is great. There was another on some other tv-show I loved as well, cannot find it again and I have sifted through all his live performances of Grace looking for it. If you know of any other that stand out do tell me in an answer. My quest to hear it again won't end until I'm dead.

Yup, coffee time. Buckley has some of the best live venue recordings around as well as studio stuff. On Grace, in terms of dynamics, Mojo Pin is so so interesting -- would love to hear your impression. For any listeners who happen to be reading this & haven't heard much Jeff Buckley before, I'd encourage you to find his Sony studios recording & cover of the Smiths "I Know It's Over". 🧘🏿♂️ Have a great day!

Thanks for reacting to this. Jeff was so much more than a "Hallelujah" cover. There's so many great tracks (some covers and some original) from the one LP he released and SFMStD to his live albums and Bonus Tracks like "Thousand Fold". "What Will You Say" and "Moodswing Whiskey" are super-cool originals that you would really appreciate I think. Pretty sure they were only recorded live.

We were really spoiled with great new singers in the 90s, but I can't really argue with people who say that Jeff Buckley was the best. It's nutty that Elizabeth Fraser did the lyrics for Massive Attack's Teardrop while dealing with the news of his death.

LOVE Jeff so much! Such a tragic loss! Timeless music. He uses open G tuning for this song, gets that slide guitar sliding. Both guitar and vocal wise he was just in another dimension. "Lover You Should Have Come Over" is another example of his perfect songwriting 🥰😍

you talk about forever young... this is just stuck whack bang in the middle of the 90s - i wouldn't say its dated but it gives me a full on nostalgia rush of that time. Jeff was a great loss to music but he'll always be there in our memories now as that great looking young lad with the voice of an angel

His cover of van Morrisons 'Sweet thing' on the live at Sin-e record, is just utterly majestic and flawless. Actually better than the original. Just him, a Fender Telecaster and a Fender amp, in a tiny Manhatten cafe. His ability to find textures with both his voice and guitar, is just otherworldly. It's a must listen and my favourite Jeff track! And the greatest love song ever recorded, in my opinion (yes, high praise indeed!)

The album Grace is other-worldly; indeed, there is something really magical about it that makes it almost metaphysical. No matter how many times I listen to the entire album, I keep on discovering new things; hidden sounds. It is almost as if Jeff wanted us to sip it slowly through our life journey. A pure gem!

This is a strong contender in the running for my not so humble list of favorite songs. I could fill this comment up to the brim with words, but one of the first would be *euphoria* , Goo Goo Dolls are great but how could Iris be chart topping while this was just sitting right here in the goated album?
