How did your fruits got so dark? Did you soak it with burn sugar?
@flamegrey3 ай бұрын
No that's the natural color of the fruits after soaking for a while especially if using dark rum

How long do you cook the sugar for until it gets dark before adding the red wine. Thank you.

Lynn help me!!! I made burn sugar for the first time and to me it tastes slightly bitter. I went ahead and tried some on some chicken and it tasted good but I'm concerned. How should the sugar taste? Will it make my cakes taste bitter?
@INTHEKITCHENWITHLYNNktk523 жыл бұрын
Hey Mo Mo, there’s a little bitterness after burning the sugar, and that’s ok, but the sugar used to mix the cake will combine with the burnt sugar and it will blend in well, put little liquid at a time and let cool, you should end up with a thick consistency, checkout how I made the Black Cake, to see how the consistency of the burnt sugar was, before I add it to the cake mixture. Happy baking, Happy holidays!

@INTHEKITCHENWITHLYNNktk523 жыл бұрын
Hello Triola, It's normal for the bitter taste, but the sugar in the cake mixture will eventually bring back the flavor. Happy baking! Happy Holidays!

Can I use molasses instead of burnt sugar?
@INTHEKITCHENWITHLYNNktk524 жыл бұрын
Indra Supra The molasses is way off when it comes to taste, it would definitely ruin your cake, if you cannot burn the sugar, I would suggest you buy the cake coloring.

@@INTHEKITCHENWITHLYNNktk52 Thanks Lynn. I can't find Caribbean stuff in Sacramento, CA.... and since I want my cake to be as original as possible, I'm going to try making the burnt sugar myself. I just hope I don't start a fire..... we've too many already. Wish me luck. 😊

Is it bitter
@INTHEKITCHENWITHLYNNktk524 жыл бұрын
It's not bitter, this remedy was for the Black Cake, different from burning for cooking gravy.
