I got my grandmother's recipe when I was a child..she was born in the late 1800's. She used mayo, yellow mustard, fine minced spring onion and celery in small amts, and pickle relish, either sweet or dill, which ever was on hand. I like the idea of olives and I will try that next.

Hi Linda.....I have worked at our rural church for n many years. When we have a funeral, the luncheon served afterwards always consisted of ham sandwitches and egg salad sandwitches. They were served open faced on a potato roll. Egg salad sandwitches always seemed to go first. To fancy them up a little bit, we added, finely chopped celery for some crunch and sliced green olives with pimentos. So good.

Thanks for the egg peeling lesson. I always have the hardest time peeling. I used to use the same type of egg slicer till I figured out that my potato masher will do the same but quicker. Also try using cream cheese along with your mayo, mustard, pinch or 2 of sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, celery seed and what ever else you use in your egg salad. Thanks for sharing your ideas and stories.

Hey sweet Tammy! A pastry cutter is a great idea. I'll try that next time. You can fancy up egg salad in different ways, like celery, onions, jalapeños, etc. This is a simple recipe (I think less is more) and this is my childhood memory and the way I like it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@usmcrn44186 жыл бұрын
Tammy Butler she doesn’t mention the fact that OLDER eggs will always peel much easier than FRESH eggs. It’s just the opposite if you’re trying to make poached eggs.. use very fresh eggs for poaching, they hold their shape so much better.. if you try to poach old eggs, the white will often turn into long stringy strands.. not what you want 😎

Yea I know what you mean. I watched some videos about microwaving hard boiled eggs and thought I'd give it a try. Worked good first few times until I was in a hurry and set the time for way too long. Hit the button to start and got busy at the kitchen sink with the microwave on a shelf at head height immediately around the corner 3 feet away from where I was standing. Next thing I knew there was a horrendous loud boom followed instantaneously by 3 more so close together they basically all sounded like one explosion. Needless to say I jumped for cover thinking someone came in with a shotgun blazing until I realized they Microwave was setting askew on the shelf after jumping up and hitting the bottom of the cabinet above about a couple of inches. There was a cloud of dust wafting around the general vicinity and the left front corner was off the shelf about three inches. After I choked my heart back down out of my throat and got the pulse rate down a little I realized what had happened. The timer still showed 40 some minutes and the pressure must have built up in the eggs until the first let go setting off the other 3 in the bowl. The bowl broke but the door hinges and latch held. Now I understand why they make them so robust. Thankfully the door held, coulda been bad with glass and super hot water blowin out right at my head. Blew the mica sheild out and the rotisserie turns on when you open the door. Replaced the mica sheet but haven't had time for the rotisserie fix. The door still latches tight and it still works good 2 years later. Startled the livin sh-daylights outta me for sure and can't say enough good about our old Sharp 1200 watt MW. P.S. Kinda gave me a whole new perspective on "nukeing" stuff so I don't do eggs in there anymore.
