I don't know if anyone ever mentioned this. Now that Annie is bigger and older I wonder if Nene sees her as competition for Sahabani's affection. As a baby Annie was an intruder in the group (in Nene's mind).

Seems to me they've become too complacent, and need to be knocked down a peg or two so they can come together more and appreciate what they got. Just like many of us humans need to have happen, lol. I don't see a way that could be done though. Many people already frown on them just being in captivity. And besides that, Ai is one of the biggest, healthiest looking female gorillas I have ever seen! No doubt she is in her prime too. So what's the deal? A silverback should have WAY more kids. Even with just two females. Ai should be spitting them out left and right, shouldn't she? Also, there's tons of videos out here of Shabani mating with Nene. Is the zoo keeping them from having more kids or what? I'm just wondering is all. I'm sure if they are keeping them from having more kids, they have their reasons. Well, regardless of all of that, thanks for always taking the time to share this with us all!
