This actually was also featured on the Discovery channel, Jay Ingram interviewed the lady that worked for the demolition company on the technique involved in such implosions.

What a shame! If only someone stepped in to redevelop that building! It had so many possibilities.

Tragic loss of a landmark, if not for screwed-up city politics it never would have closed in the first place. Used to drive by this and stare at it in awe when visiting SJ. Also two of my cousins and some other relatives were born there.

14 years later, this is nothing significant on the location where the old hospital once stood, except some `box` building. Still a good piece of real estate.

I think it's so cool that the dome from that hospital is still a little landmark in our city. :) ....couldn't they have picked a better location for it, though? I mean, it's right by one of the shittiest intersections in the city. Maybe they were going for a 'Beauty and the beast' thing with it. XD

They shoula let that contractor make it into apartments. But the city let it sit there for years and it was a hazardous place where our young people and even kids could have been hurt. Whoever allowed this gross neglect should have been charged and convicted like others who have jurisdiction over property and commit infractions

The new building looks like a shoe box, I'll grant you that..but there is a lot of good things happening there. Post Secondary education for example issues millions in grants every year to assist people going back to school.

You should stick it up on e-bay and see what happens. Just give it a better background story. "This brick went through 3 car windows and landed in an upright position...or better yet, chizzle the Virgin Mary or jesus on it and claim you found it that way."

I know you been everywhere Hank (sorry...cound't resist the pun) but if only things were that simple. The only way to fix all the problems (healthcare, education, manicipality infastructure) is to tax us at 100%. And I for one think we are taxed too much as it is. Now if only they would do the same thing to St. Joseph's.....just kidding...just kidding.

The 'death of healthcare', and yet people are flown in from all over the Maritimes to seek medical treatment at our hospital. The building was unsafe anyway. It was going to come down sooner or later on its own, as it was. Why do you think it was condemned?
