Just wanted to give a tip to anyone who had this issue as well. if the initialization fails set the alternative option for hen as the home page and the delete the cache and history etc. then make sure confirm browser close is off and try it then. it should default to the enabler as the home and voila

Last year I randomly searched if there was a way to store/play ps1 and ps2 games and it lead me to your videos, at first I was put off with CFW/HAN/HEN I don't know anything about jailbreaking and thought it was just one method. But over the year I kept coming back to your vids and decided to buy a second ps3 I was still worried like I said never done anything like this, the most technical thing I done with a console was open up a 360 to clean dust. Hi, thank you very much for the video. It was very helpful. I only had issues with initialyzing the HEN from the ps3 web browser. Tried both methid (normal and alternative) for about 5 times each with failure on all attempts. Looked online and found those 3 recommendations which I tried -Remove any disk in the PS3 (I had a game inserted) -Make sure the time and date of the system is valid (Mine was out by a couple of hours + wrong year) - Have only a single tab open (for some reason, opening the link from the top opened a new tab on the right. Closing the unacessary tab) Worked on my second try with the regular enabling of HEN

Thank you for the video, it was a huge help. However i could not initialize HEN installer, neither methods worked. It was always failing even after deleting cookies, cache,etc. The solution was to download the HAN support files and HEN package file manually through PC and do the rest manually (as described on the ps3xploit forum - "[Tutorial] [PS3HEN] The Great Ps3 HEN All in One Guide" thread. So if you are facing problems you might combine this video with the official tutorial :) good luck

Btw if anyone is having issues with the ps3 not recognizing the file for the update, it’s recommended to immediately unplug your controller when it’s checking in recovery mode. The ps3 will try to check your controller instead of the drive sometimes.

So my thirdtime it worked. And make sure to delete cookies and everything on the browser, set home page as blank, and use the alternative hen installer not the normal one

@@llKAR1Mll No they won't be deleted. However, you might have issues with launching games that you installed before from PSN. That was my case. I just deleted it and then reinstalled with HEN Package Manager. There are other videos about working with PSN games.

I've followed it carefully on my PS3. I've even went through to recovery mode and my PS3 still will not install the HFW. Using a FAT32 USB with the HFW update loaded, I have a 12GB PS3 (with a 1TB loaded on it), it's been factory reset and has been updated to 4.88 and the update still will not apply. It says that it is already onto the latest up-to-date version.

You can still do it on Mac, Format the USB by going to finder - applications - utilities - Disk Utility- click the USB then go to Erase and format it in FAT32 download the file like he did, use “the unarchiver” on the App Store to extract the .rar file to get the .pup file instead of using the md5 program just run terminal and type md5 click space then drag the file in and click enter. It gives you the number

Strange, I updated HFW the first time and it was successful, but when I went to do the second install through recovery mode it said that the data was corrupted with a error code. I rebooted and tried the second install again in recovery mode and it was successful. Just something to note that it doesn't mean the entire file somehow got corrupted between updates.

@@garrettburt3599 It wasn't a issue that prevented the PS3 from installing HFW for me. It was just something I noted while going through the process. If you're having issues multiple times then the only issue it could be is: 1. Legitimate file corruption. Redownload the HFW Files. 2. Corruption on the Hard Drive which can possibly be fixed with a full format, otherwise that would need to be replaced. 3. I'm not familiar with the PS3 memory, however if the memory modules are bad it could also prevent it from installing. But this would also mean you would have issues with games and OFW programs. But buying a new console would probably be the last step you'd want to take.

Hey man, I've followed your tutorials for a while now and they're easy to understand. I have a few issues though, In the 'Installing PS3HEN' section of the video, I've installed the alternative version 2 times before I restarted the system and 2 times after I restarted the system with no luck of it not working. The non Alternative way I 'Initialize HEN Installer' and then shows up with Exploit Initialization FAILED! like it did with the alternative download. Does this mean that my system wont allow me to use HEN at all or am I just really unlucky?

I formatted the USB drive to FAT32, made sure it was MBR, checked over the file structure 3 times, am 100% sure the update file is spelled correctly, but it keeps saying "No applicable update data was found" when I try to update via storage media. I'm running system version 4.90. What am I doing wrong here?

Anyone struggling to install, even in recovery mode, DO THIS: When you start the update in recovery, immediately unplug the controller. Simple as that, things are now progressing for me.

I need some help with my superslim ps3, do i need to install hwf to get hen because all other tutorials on youtube do not tell you to do that, they just start wiith what you did after 16 minute of the video so yeah i need help!!!

thanks ever so much for this gem. good thing you added the caveat that the HEN initialiser wasn't 100% success rate, it failed on me like twenty times in a row, finally got there in the end. used a slim unit, one of fat ps3 bit the bullet and chunked itself into a RLOD and i can't be fkd to reball it, i'm not that skilled at electronics. shame really as i dump ps3 games. package manager is what i'm after and appear to have it. will try managunz on this HEN job, doubt i'll get the PIC codes and disk hashes, but as long as i can dump me retails as encrypted and compare hashes with redump, this was a massive win. will miss ps2 compatibility and the static media sockets the FAT had, really was useful as anothe rom storage location. beggars can't be choosers. again, really appreciate this, bravo to yourself and the dev team for knocking this thing together. oh, quickSFV is a great free hashtag checker and maker, same for romvault and clrMAMEpro.

I really can't thank you enough man.. And for people having any issue I had, hear me out... If you have ps3 4.88 FW the ps3 may tell you that it's up-to-date and can't install the HFW 4.88.1. But don't worry because you can install it. Just watch the part at 12:40 on the video. You'll see how to install it in recovery mode. Another issue is initializing the HEN. It's recommended to install it through the alternative way. Try to see other comments to fix your issues

at 14:00 it's checks but ends up saying "No applicable update dat was found. Connect storage media that contains update data of version 4.88 or later, and then press the START and Select buttons at the same time." checked the usb flash drive and the update was still there?

TIP FOR INITIALIZATION STEP: Idk if this matters or if it was just a fluke, BUT my initialization step was failing every single time with the alt installer, UNTIL i pressed triangle and swtiched my view option to full view. I had it previously where the browser was a square on my screen but after swithing to the full view it worked right away

I have a factory reset all black ps3 slim and I recently installed cfw on my other slim that has the silver disc tray area but this one is not letting me apply the update.. do think it could be because I have all the data and stuff still on my flash drive that I use with my cfw slim and/or can you think of why I am getting an error code.. do I need a blank flash drive with the update for it to be successful?

when you try to update from usb and get error code 80029C55, unplug your controller from your ps3 and try again.

13:43 one of my two usb connector things is broken on my ps3 making it kinda hard to have the flash drive and the ps3 controller connected at the same time... is there any way to get around this or should I just stick with only doing the system update once? edit: nevermind I just watched further in the video and saw we can just do it twice through the regular system update option (I think)

this is a great tutorial, and the only one that has worked for me. I have tried to install HEN and also tried installing CFW but it never worked, for the first time i got CFW on my ps3 slim
