Thank you so much for the shout out, my brotha from Down Unda! Very kind of you. Loved the reaction/breakdown, too. I'm a believer in this community and supporting each other is very close to my heart. When asked what kind of music my band plays, I always liked to say polka metal and let them ponder that 😂😂 Keep up the good work!! 🤘❤🤘

I just saw them live in Milwaukee a few days ago. They're incredible in person, highly recommended. I was talking with someone in the crowd who's GF had dragged him to the show and had no idea who they were, but liked bands like Opeth, Tool, and Meshuggah. I told him he was about to have a new favorite band. I was right, he was absolutely blown away. I was kind of jealous TBH, not only did he get to experience Jinjer for the first time (I remember that feeling), but he did it in a live setting.

I was there too bro! Amazing show, the best I've seen. Great venue. I enjoyed Milwaukee.

I regret not seeing them when they toured Australia ( they played a venue 10 minutes away from my house that I play at often!) in 2020. will definitely go see them if they come back

I love how Jinjer just ignore conventional song structures and choose to take the listener on a journey instead!

I certainly appreciate that too as a prog musician myself. I've said it many times that even my favourite artists have songs I don't click with ( While not a huge fan of this track, I loved the other two I have heard, Perennial and Pisces ). and have nothing but respect for them

Roman plays two types of guitars. The one here is an OD (Omer Deutsch), an Israeli guitar maker. Beautiful instruments. He plays OD guitars during some international performances. Roman also has a sponsorship with Jackson guitars. He plays these during shows in the USA. I'm not sure exactly how the arrangement works, but Roman plays the Jackson guitar at larger music festivals internationally as well. Cheers. 🤘

Some Jinjer songs are definitely "growers", and may reward a bit of patience from the listener. This one happens to have been right up my alley on first listen, but that's not every fan's experience with this song, nor is it my experience with every Jinjer song. In fact, "Ape" is easily one of my favourite Jinjer songs, and I didn't like it at all at first. I describe "Ape" as "heavy jazz"...maybe it would be up your alley. It's definitely one of their heavier and more progressive songs, having 8 distinct movements crammed into 3 1/2 minutes. Check it out!

Dmitry Oksen was their founding guitarist and played an ESP. He isn't in the band anymore. Roman (guy in this video) used to play a really cheap Ibanez copy but later played the same black ESP Dmitry used in the band. Same bassist, by the way - Eugene went from big with dreads to big with short hair to BJJ fit with a man bun over the years

New sub. I love Bill and Jinjer, so you are now part of the family! Also, if memory serves, Roman usually plays a 7 string ESP, but not always...

gear in this vid: guitar: from an independent Israeli luthier that he's friends with (don't remember the name) bass: a small Ukrainian luthier (i'm bad with names) drums: Vlad gradually adds pieces as he goes. every time we see him, his rig as grown. the 3 vids you've seen span 2016, 2019, 2022 , so it's going to jump (you can actually track the chronology of the band by the size of his rig). i could be wrong, but i _believe_ the core has remained the same: kick, snare, piccolo snare, 2 floor toms (in other words, i think only his cymbal collection has grown). based on the way you talked about it, i think you may like some of their earlier work better -- it's a little more straight forward. _Cloud Factory_ and _Outlander_ are super solid.

Roman has 3 OD guitars - pure guitar porn! 1x 27 inch baritone (in this vid) - drop A 1x 25.5 to 27 fanfret - drop A 1 x 25.5 - drop C (for some of their older tracks) Couple of reasons he now plays Jacksons (prototype) on stage 1) They made him a juicy deal 2) After Vlad had some of his custom cymbals stolen at a gig, it was a bit of a wake up call that his 'precious' OD guitars were at risk Pisces vid is an esp horizon (from before the japanese production versions switched to the E-II branding) - also in Drop A but pushing the limits of intonation for this scale length. Believe he inherited this from Dimitry Oksen when he left the band - they used to have 2 guitarists.

Cheers for the info! I can completely understand not wanting to take the OD guitars on tour and I bet they mean a lot more than just the money value to him ( much as I don't let my favourite basses out of my sight when I play shows with them ) I will have to see if he has done some gear run down videos on them

Drinking a Dr Pepper!!! Did not know that was available Down-under! Excellent! (Texan Jeff here). Still looking forward to your breakdown on the gear you use, and why (preferably with demos). You obviously have a lot of insight and opinions. I like to hear musicians talk about their gear and show why they have chosen what they use.

YES. Thank you for saying that. 30+ genres and sub-genres some with one band in them is insane. It used to be just metal with bands that tried to be unique. If you put a band in a box and then they step outside the box self appointed gate keepers throw a fit. Being a musician I might see this differently than non-musicians but if I hear a band and like it I put them on a playlist, if I don't like it I don't. That's it. All this "that's not Metal Core" or "that's not Tampon Core" (or whatever the f*ck it is). I'm over here saying "who gives a damn?" . Sure labels are part of human language. There probably isn't a language on the planet that doesn't have labels and it's nice to have a simplified way of describing music but the labels have become pretty much a religion for some. I like Jinjer for many of the same reasons I like a lot of bands. Namely bands that aren't afraid to incorporate their influences in their music and those influences can be totally outside of metal sometimes. They can be all over the place and as the youngsters say these days "I'm here for it". That suits me just fine because I listen to and have played a lot of music that wasn't metal and still like it. Maybe that's a component of a musician's band but not necessarily IMO.
