In recent interviews, and maybe older ones as well, she hasn't been shy in mentioning Gwen Stefani was a huge influence on her, and especially in this song, I can absolutely hear it. I've never strictly liked any of Gwen's solo stuff, because it's not for me, but I reckon Tati would do a fantastic Tick Tock cover.

There are reactors who see Jinjer as click bait, but that quote is a BS statement. I can speak for so many people who just love and respect this band as they are something special. I wouldn’t put a Jinjer tattoo on my arm for click bait I did it because they are an amazing band🤘🤘🤘🤘

It was a diss. This isn't the first time I've heard that they've risen in popularity because of the sheer volume of reactors listening. There are those who are unimpressed with Jinjer and believe they are popular only because of the shock entertainment that is gained from reactors. I became a fan because I like their music, but I was introduced to them from a reaction channel. I will also say that because of Jinjer, the metal community has grown a lot. The shock reactions have gotten a,lot of people to explore metal.
@j.f.fisher53183 жыл бұрын
Once upon a time you just needed to get on MTV and the whole world instantly knew about you. Now that mass market has been broken up into a million tiny markets, and as many gatekeepers, while most metalheads are still going to just keep listening to the same few bands they've always listened to. I suppose for fans of the same old bands they don't like seeing the boat get rocked but they can suck a bag of ***** and choke as far as I'm concerned.
@reagan4453 жыл бұрын
It was a diss and yet the reviewer was also right in that reaction videos have brought in a ton of new fans to this band including me. I know about Jinjer because of a Pieces reaction vid. Then I watched more. Even if only 1 out of 10 sees those videos but goes on to become fans of the band then that's a great thing for Jinger and the metal community as a whole. Jeffrey is right, without MTV, there's just so much content out there on youtube that it can be lost in the noise. Anything that brings attention and listeners is a good thing. They're a hell of a lot more than just a viral video. I hope the rest of Wallflowers is just as good.
@رزيئة3 жыл бұрын
@J.F. Fisher my thoughts exactly! Lots of haters and gatekeepers are 50-60 yo people who only listen to slayer, Pantera, cannibal corpse, either megadeth or Metallica because god forbid you like both, and some random grunge or black metal bands. And they think they have the right to monitor other people's taste when they can't monitor their own and are stuck in a comfort zone they refuse to leave.
@jamiemillman2 жыл бұрын
completely agree, I had heard of them years ago but never listened to them then I stumbled across Pieces like a lot of people have and instantly got hooked! the more you listen you them the more you realise just how fucking good they are, especially if you're a metal fan already and can appreciate everything going on with their music. I'm happy for them that they've got this popularity! they're all so talented they 100000000% deserve to be in a spot to earn a huge amount of money from doing what they love! I can't wait for them to tour here again so I can go and see it in person myself :)

I saw this video got up to #33 on trending (maybe higher), which is just huge for an extreme metal band. Jinjer is playing a huge part in bridging the gap between people who’ve always listened to metal and people who have never listened to metal, which is incredible. I’ll be seeing them at their sold out Baltimore show. Also, “reaction video template”? They were never that. They’ve always made the music they genuinely want to make from what I can tell, even before “Pisces” went viral. 🙄

It doesn't matter why reactors react to Jinjer. The fact is that despite whatever their motivation might be they still help to drive up Jinjer's video analytics, and this in turn helps introduce people to the band who would otherwise never bother to give them a listen. People get curious why a band they've never listened to has a video that is receiving 200k views in 4 hours, so they pause to check it out for themselves.

They're so much more than just a reaction band, but one cannot deny that reactions, or specifically Pisces going viral on reaction channels, being the thing that gave them that much needed, but also much deserved exposure. I would not have known them without this fact, even though I did not even watched reaction channels before that, and usually do it still mostly only for Jinjer, but now I am listening to this band every week, if not even daily. Their complex musicianship really helped me training my brain and get a better understanding of music, and their songs are usually good spirited or carry important messages, which really helps my mental state a lot, while the instrumental and vocal representation is also really motivating for me (and of course Tatiana's insane stage presence, if watching the videos). As far as this song goes, I did not even dive into the lyrics yet. Release day it did not click with me, because I was so tired, and the song is so proggy that I could not properly follow along. Today it sounds like a completely different song to me, and I like it a lot. That is also one of the nastiest death growls I have ever heard, coming from our little Tati no less. They said it's one of their heaviest albums, probably not just instrumentally or vocally, but also lyrically. And I absolutely agree with you, this seems to be very matured in a lot of ways. I love their older stuff too, but they came a really long way since playing in socks and with dreads in that little recording booth. I'm beyond excited at this point.
@robertwillingham19653 жыл бұрын
I completely anticipated not clicking with the song at first listen. As much as I love unpredictable complex music, the first couple of listens can be quite overwhelming until you can sort of unpack everything. I purposely withheld judgement until a few more listens. Having done this, I realize Jinjer is continuing to improve and evolve, which has created much excitement for Wallflowers and seeing them live on Dec 8!

The Nemophila type of sound is what kept away from Metal since the mid 2000's, until I discovered Jinjer. I agree Tank on that discussion of Jinjer being a reaction template, incredibly insulting and disrespectful to the band, they are soooooooo much more than that. Think about everything they did before that Pisces video, which came out in 2017....Inhale, Cloud Factory, pretty much all of King of Everything. All of that is incredibly well done and they just matured from there. There is not one song from them I don't like and I can't say that about any other band I've ever listened to in my 45 years. They also appear to be challenging themselves and evolving at the same time, not just mailing it in....which I don't think they would even be capable of. They've worked so incredibly hard to get to where they are now. For that outlet to say that....terrible. Anyway, another great reaction man....well done!

Reaction videos are just what brought this band to the masses who don't listen to much metal music and to the older generation of metal fans who haven't liked a lot of the newer scream/growl metal. I as an older metalhead(51) was slow to adopt the scream/growl metal, but groups like Killswitch Engage, Shadowsfall, All that Remains, In Flames and pure growl bands like Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth awakened a new passion for me. Now bands like Jinjer and others too numerous to list have hooked all over again.

I really like how you go into each instrument each band member plays and break down what they are using and tune it is in. Tatiana Shmailyuk is an amazing vocalist,her range is phenomenal. Looking forward to getting this album. I found out about them, because my friends recommended them,and I have been into them ever since. Great reaction!

Awesome! Took a few listens for me due to all the timeshifts and breaks but boy did it payed off. A reaction band? Like you said, what the hell that even means? Good video, peace.

It's another great song and man are their influences peeking through on this one. Incubus style flows and hints of early No Doubt vocals and I SWEAR when the JinjerMechwarrior comes out that riff is a nod to Down's Bury Me In Smoke!

What a band. All high level musicians making it work together. That drummer en bassist are super, Tatiana is from another planet, but the guitarist is getting more and more my attention. I can't figure out his style yet, but it's fab. Great and interesting reaction too from somebody who knows his stuff en loves the music. Tank you very much indeed!

This was one of the best Jinjer songs I’ve heard. Like you said, it’s really well written and shows off how insanely talented everyone is in this band! I found Jinjer through the “reaction video template” song Pisces, like 2-3 years before I started watching reaction videos because they were so damn good!

Preordered the vinyl bundle yesterday and I’ve had tickets for the upcoming show since pre-pandemic lol It kept getting postponed. It’ll be my second time seeing them!
