Tatiana gets a lot of the attention, but Vlad and Evegny are just over there quietly being the best rhythm section in modern metal...Every band member is at the top of their game. Total package.

In recent interviews, and maybe older ones as well, she hasn't been shy in mentioning Gwen Stefani was a huge influence on her, and especially in this song, I can absolutely hear it. I've never strictly liked any of Gwen's solo stuff, because it's not for me, but I reckon Tati would do a fantastic Tick Tock cover.

There are reactors who see Jinjer as click bait, but that quote is a BS statement. I can speak for so many people who just love and respect this band as they are something special. I wouldn’t put a Jinjer tattoo on my arm for click bait I did it because they are an amazing band🤘🤘🤘🤘

The click baiters are generally easy to spot. They know next to nothing about the genre, much less the acts they react to. They usually also get the fewest views. Not all, but most.

It was a diss. This isn't the first time I've heard that they've risen in popularity because of the sheer volume of reactors listening. There are those who are unimpressed with Jinjer and believe they are popular only because of the shock entertainment that is gained from reactors. I became a fan because I like their music, but I was introduced to them from a reaction channel. I will also say that because of Jinjer, the metal community has grown a lot. The shock reactions have gotten a,lot of people to explore metal.

Once upon a time you just needed to get on MTV and the whole world instantly knew about you. Now that mass market has been broken up into a million tiny markets, and as many gatekeepers, while most metalheads are still going to just keep listening to the same few bands they've always listened to. I suppose for fans of the same old bands they don't like seeing the boat get rocked but they can suck a bag of ***** and choke as far as I'm concerned.
@reagan445

It was a diss and yet the reviewer was also right in that reaction videos have brought in a ton of new fans to this band including me. I know about Jinjer because of a Pieces reaction vid. Then I watched more. Even if only 1 out of 10 sees those videos but goes on to become fans of the band then that's a great thing for Jinger and the metal community as a whole. Jeffrey is right, without MTV, there's just so much content out there on youtube that it can be lost in the noise. Anything that brings attention and listeners is a good thing. They're a hell of a lot more than just a viral video. I hope the rest of Wallflowers is just as good.

@J.F. Fisher my thoughts exactly! Lots of haters and gatekeepers are 50-60 yo people who only listen to slayer, Pantera, cannibal corpse, either megadeth or Metallica because god forbid you like both, and some random grunge or black metal bands. And they think they have the right to monitor other people's taste when they can't monitor their own and are stuck in a comfort zone they refuse to leave.

completely agree, I had heard of them years ago but never listened to them then I stumbled across Pieces like a lot of people have and instantly got hooked! the more you listen you them the more you realise just how fucking good they are, especially if you're a metal fan already and can appreciate everything going on with their music. I'm happy for them that they've got this popularity! they're all so talented they 100000000% deserve to be in a spot to earn a huge amount of money from doing what they love! I can't wait for them to tour here again so I can go and see it in person myself :)

I was introduced to Jinjer from watching a video about unique voices and as soon as I heard a woman do metal growls I was blown away and had to find out more about her. And that led me to reaction videos. From there I fell in love with every single song and the instrumentals of each band member is truly impeccable.

I agree Tank on that discussion of Jinjer being a reaction template, incredibly insulting and disrespectful to the band, they are soooooooo much more than that. Think about everything they did before that Pisces video, which came out in 2017....Inhale, Cloud Factory, pretty much all of King of Everything. All of that is incredibly well done and they just matured from there. There is not one song from them I don't like and I can't say that about any other band I've ever listened to in my 45 years. They also appear to be challenging themselves and evolving at the same time, not just mailing it in....which I don't think they would even be capable of. They've worked so incredibly hard to get to where they are now. For that outlet to say that....terrible. Anyway, another great reaction man....well done!

It doesn't matter why reactors react to Jinjer. The fact is that despite whatever their motivation might be they still help to drive up Jinjer's video analytics, and this in turn helps introduce people to the band who would otherwise never bother to give them a listen. People get curious why a band they've never listened to has a video that is receiving 200k views in 4 hours, so they pause to check it out for themselves.

100% agree. I’ve said many times, regardless of what a reactor is doing in their video, and/or what they’re adding to it, it’s undeniable that it will turn at least one person on to a new band.

I saw this video got up to #33 on trending (maybe higher), which is just huge for an extreme metal band. Jinjer is playing a huge part in bridging the gap between people who’ve always listened to metal and people who have never listened to metal, which is incredible. I’ll be seeing them at their sold out Baltimore show. Also, “reaction video template”? They were never that. They’ve always made the music they genuinely want to make from what I can tell, even before “Pisces” went viral. 🙄

They're so much more than just a reaction band, but one cannot deny that reactions, or specifically Pisces going viral on reaction channels, being the thing that gave them that much needed, but also much deserved exposure. I would not have known them without this fact, even though I did not even watched reaction channels before that, and usually do it still mostly only for Jinjer, but now I am listening to this band every week, if not even daily. Their complex musicianship really helped me training my brain and get a better understanding of music, and their songs are usually good spirited or carry important messages, which really helps my mental state a lot, while the instrumental and vocal representation is also really motivating for me (and of course Tatiana's insane stage presence, if watching the videos). As far as this song goes, I did not even dive into the lyrics yet. Release day it did not click with me, because I was so tired, and the song is so proggy that I could not properly follow along. Today it sounds like a completely different song to me, and I like it a lot. That is also one of the nastiest death growls I have ever heard, coming from our little Tati no less. They said it's one of their heaviest albums, probably not just instrumentally or vocally, but also lyrically. And I absolutely agree with you, this seems to be very matured in a lot of ways. I love their older stuff too, but they came a really long way since playing in socks and with dreads in that little recording booth. I'm beyond excited at this point.
@robertwillingham1965

I completely anticipated not clicking with the song at first listen. As much as I love unpredictable complex music, the first couple of listens can be quite overwhelming until you can sort of unpack everything. I purposely withheld judgement until a few more listens. Having done this, I realize Jinjer is continuing to improve and evolve, which has created much excitement for Wallflowers and seeing them live on Dec 8!

To quote Harry from Songs and Thongs, "Jinjer have perfected music!" I think that's how most of us feel about this song. I was so annoyed that I discovered Jinjer at the time they were in the middle of playing in Australia and the shows were all sold out. Now with the current climate I can't see a time in the near future that we will get to see them in Aus again. Until then, I'll have to settle for your awesome reactions, thanks Tank.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who tried and are trying to milk the Pisces video for views, but that's not any reason to dismiss Jinjer as a "reaction video template." That's just lazy thinking right there and a real good way to miss out on an amazing group of musicians.

The Nemophila type of sound is what kept away from Metal since the mid 2000's, until I discovered Jinjer. Nothing special there, it's just another of the tenths of modern Metal bands that sound all alike. My very first song I hear of Jinjer was "Sit Stay Role Over". And I really didn't know it was a woman that was the lead singer. Her Voice is like so good. She can go from a growl to a scream and back to normal singing so smoothly. It's so satisfying listening to her. Tatiana and Courtney of Spiritbox. Can sing me to sleep any day 🙃😂

It feels so good to know that new music from Jinjer is right around the corner. Gonna see them here in Phoenix on December 12th. Gonna be the first concert I've ever attended so I'm incredibly excited. As for the comment about the "reaction video template", never once crossed my mind that these kinds of videos are the sole reason for their success. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the popularity of their music among channels that do reactions have helped to some degree, but I'd like to think they're as big as they are now (and getting bigger with every song/album the put out) because they, in my opinion at least, are one the best bands in the game. Always appreciate the bits of insight you offer Tank, looking forward to more vids.

I don't think of it being an insult to the band or any KZbinrs who do reaction videos. I do feel safe to say a lot of their popularity to the average music lover (people like me) came from reaction videos of their song Pisces. Which fortunately for them, you guys were able to introduce them to further places they never got to. Hopefully this makes sense. Either way love your channel and can't wait to see more from Jinjer and yourself as well!

Jinjer are so great. They remind me of Opeth without copying them at all.... fantastic musicians! Also, the way Tatjana changes her vocals together with the band... simply amazing!

I really like how you go into each instrument each band member plays and break down what they are using and tune it is in. Tatiana Shmailyuk is an amazing vocalist,her range is phenomenal. Looking forward to getting this album. I found out about them, because my friends recommended them,and I have been into them ever since. Great reaction!

I'm seeing them 4 days after you seeing them. Ordered a meet and greet in Dallas. Honestly when I first heard this song I thought it was good. But the more I listened to it the more I loved it more. So well done for a single. Can't wait to hear more.

Hey Tank, haven't tuned in to your channel in a while. But I'm thrilled to see you constantly deepening your appreciation and understanding of music in a supportive community. Your reaction style is very accessible for metal heads like me. I'm not a tech person by any means but I always learn something new about gear on this channel and your insight on this band is so on point. Love the content, and keep it up! Glad you're having fun!

Tank, in one way I understand that comment about "reaction video band". I've been a fan of Jinjer since about 2010 and always played them for friends and when I've had the opportunity. Sadly it took the "reaction scene" to give them that push they've should have had years earlier. Jinjer has been grinding Europe for years and never got the attention they deserved and with the "reaction boom" in 2018-2019 they finally got it. But yeah I hear you and I agree with you for sure but sadly there are some truth to that statement tho I think they showed their qualities as great musicians way before they got traction on the KZbin reaction scene. Good review as usual!

The Netflix show Orange is the New Black is responsible for me discovering Jinjer. About 3 years ago I learned that the actress Jessica Pimentel who plays Maria Ruiz was the frontwoman of a metal band called Alekhine's Gun so I decided to check them out of Spotify. Because I listened to them, it recommended The Butcher Babies, who were ok, but further recommendations led to Venom Prison and through them I was led to Jinjer. Now both Jinjer and Venom Prison are 2 of my favourite bands. You should also react to Venom Prison btw 😁

Reaction videos are just what brought this band to the masses who don't listen to much metal music and to the older generation of metal fans who haven't liked a lot of the newer scream/growl metal. I as an older metalhead(51) was slow to adopt the scream/growl metal, but groups like Killswitch Engage, Shadowsfall, All that Remains, In Flames and pure growl bands like Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth awakened a new passion for me. Now bands like Jinjer and others too numerous to list have hooked all over again.
