These are old photos of Ian Curtis from Joy Division, the lead singer who committed suicide at the age of 23. This is from the book, "touching from a distance" by Deborah Curtis (Ian Curtis' widow)

It breaks my heart to know such a talented young man took his own life When i watched Control I found myself saying "please Ian don't do it , please don't" :'( He was beautiful

Butterfly Manson I fully agree. He was a beautiful man, a true poet, his lyrics are the most darkest painful lyrics I've ever heard. Just to know that someone can even come up with stuff like that is outstanding. I would have loved to see where joy division would be right now and what they would have done. It's truly heartbreaking what happened. I wish ian was still around today.

i know what you mean Roy , i recently became a fan of Joy Division & as much as his lyrics are sad Im enjoying his songs , there is no one like him & that what makes it special

I know...makes me mad to...i just cant believe that the rest of the guys didn't know how depressed Ian was..what do you think?

He self harmed and had suicide attempt and nobody asked why. This is sick. So many questions and no answers in her book.

Actually if you read the book, they did notice somethings that were wrong and they even said if something was wrong with Ian, they couldn't talk him out of it. He was a really stubborn man. Even Bernard tried to help him with "hypnosis" it didn't work out for him. So they did try all they can do to help but Ian's demons were just too strong.

And i loved how he was on stage...he let the music just take him ...he got into the music so much...boy i wish i could be like Ian..😊❤✌👍🏼🇺🇸 and they almost made it to America ...god how sad.

Imagine the music they would have made. Then again New Order wouldn't have ever existed... I guess things really do happen for a reason 🗿

@@dixienormous6969 i know..things just happen for reason sometimes...that is true...now i wanted to ask you a question...Ian looked like he was high on something..some people are saying that...but i just watched an interview with Bernard the lead singer for New Order ..and he sead he was not on anything...the most maybe just a couple of beers or drinks...what do you think??

@@davidmcdonald6804 he was definitely not high, I think that he was just suffering a lot alongside with his epilepsy and maybe that's why he acted a bit weird on stage too, he was a very different type of guy and you can see the pain in his eyes all the time. Definitely not on drugs though, that's just the way he was, the type of guy he was. Also very suicidal, Bernard even tried to "hypnotize" him to get him out of that suicidal state, sadly it didn't work.

I believe he couldn't handle the pressure around him. He was stressed and he was depended on. He wanted to quit the band. On his own way he did. Permanently and he wanted his cake and eat it too. Keeping his marriage and his affair. He wasn't happy being married. He should've just ended the marriage. And be with annick and pay child support. Some would say he took the easy way out.

But he still loved his wife & child. People can love two people it happens. He asked his wife not to divorce him him he could if left but he was torn. And what with his medical condition & depression. Have a heart.

Jovan Manojlovic Apparently, epilepsy meds, especially those from back in the day had some serious side effects. On top of that, he refused to stop drinking and smoking, which can cause interactions and exacerbate the condition. I can’t help but wonder if he would have had the strength to get past his romantic problems had he never had epilepsy at all?
