I think thats mostly because thinking deeply about things is very rare these days, its a consequence of society nowadays, backwards/ridiculous (social)media, vapid movies, parenting and schooling has become softer and softer in general too. Though in the end, the depth to life is what you find yourself and what you surround with.

In the present everything seems like shit until you look back and find a deeper perspective. Just living life is all. The big difference between now and then is just no one wants to be accountable for their actions or attitudes a lot of the time or take responsibility for there way of life. It used to be I can't wait to grow up and now no one even wants to grow up. Great interviews though.

I've spoken to Tony several times over the years..intriguing man. Chazz is the best interviewer bar none..he lets the guests talk and flesh out the story and only cuts in when needed. He absolutely schools these rank amateurs like Kimmel and Fallon in the art of conversational interview..simply superb.

I could listen his stories all day. As someone who loves Frank Sinatra, and I sing his songs in two "big bands", I really enjoyed hearing about him. I was feeling a little down this Sunday morning, and of course headed here to to the channel to see if I missed anything, and the first thing I see is this. This interview has uplifted my day, and that's one day before my birthday. So, this is a gift to me. Thank you Mr. Palminteri, and thank you, Mr. Darrow. I'm probably gonna go back and watch this 5 or 6 more times. 🙂

I just wanted to add a footnote that one of the albums to which Tony refers (13:30) is "Tony Darrow & Donna Cellini - The Best in Entertainment." It is the recording of a live show in 1984 at the nightclub of the Brickman Hotel in Fallsburg, NY. The show band conductor and piano player was my late father, Mick McClain. I had the honor of meeting Tony at a gig of his in Manhattan, where he signed my copy of his album and graciously shared reminiscences about the Borscht Belt era.

I've always been interested in Tony Darrow. But just like other hour-long interviews, I end up watching the interview for 3 days, never in one-sitting. For this interview though? I didn't even feel the time passing. He has great stories, firsthand experiences, rubbed shoulders with wiseguys and famous people. You MUST have him on again please Mr. Chazz. Thank you.

Tony mentions Gregory Depalma and you mistakenly ask if he was called the Grim reaper! That was Gregory Scarpa. Depalma was a Gambino Captain who was associated with the Westchester theater. He is in the famous picture with Sinatra and Carlo Gambino!!

Loved this !!! I have heard about Hackett being rude, Jerry Lewis, too. You'd never know it on stage but people are not always what they project. Carter's lucky he didn't get projected out a window. I know who he is from late night talk shows in the 60's. I'm sure Mr. Darrow has a million stories and I'd like to hear more. Just don't try this with Gianni Russo. lol
