Something else I really like is the ability to pick your nation, leader type and house upon settling your first city. I picked Assyrian, Builder and forgot the house. I ended up marrying a Dane and had a daughter who turned out to be cruel. When she was 15 she poisoned me and laughed when I died. I then decided to roleplay her reign as a terrifying ruler and had so much fun as I don't normally play that way. This game is a true gem that keeps pulling me back in.

This game is so good. I do think eventually the general Civ crowd will catch on to how good it is, but for now it's the definition of a hidden gem.

@@amshermansen what does this mean that the game overall is shit or it’s only good based on the price point that it’s set at. Then at this point it becomes malign the point just because a game is not AAA doesn’t mean the game is good or should be considered better. AAA doesn’t make or a break a game(ex: metro exodus). If it isn’t because of the price point and game rlly is shit then y r ppl making videos abt this game- is it another raid shadow legends?

The more I play, the more I discover the incredible depth of gameplay and strategies available. No game is perfect, but I love this game. It’s simply the “BEST 4X” I’ve ever played.

17:45 I am unconvinced at your analysis here. Most OW games are won by accumulating points and most points come from the cultural level of each city. Since it is a lot easier to get another city than to build up cultural level, a manifest destiny approach is THE dominant strategy. You can win through ambitions, but getting good ones is RNG-based and they come so infrequently that an AI can beat you to the finish line before it is mathematically possible to win. The DLC doesn't fix this problem either. To fix it, they need to encourage more diverse play styles by making wonders more impactful and making the different nations more unique.
