It's good to start the year on a positive note, and the Amiga is that cool sounding beat pumpin' machine that's perfect for it. So, let's do it!

Ah my favourite system. Naughty Ones was also created by some members of the Demo Group Melon Dezign.

Amazing job on their part then, as its actually pretty good. The footage is quite old (mine), and I totally didn't remember back then how to play it well. I'd do a much better job of it today. xD

Amiga ruled for a little while. I often wonder what would've happen if it kept innovating and not failed reselling the same things under different names. xD

Thank you! The next one should be out in 2 days, I believe. That said, it will be first for Windows games for 1997. So a bit more modern games. All banger though, so... ;)

Walker - excellent and unique shooter. Speris Legacy - never played it, but it looks good at least. Charcharodon - too hard for most players. Beast III - great game, easily the best of the series. Megaball - a cult classic, still popular today. Max Rally - a shame that it came out so late, it deserves more attention.

Walker is cool, it's difficult too though, as there's always tons of enemies everywhere and they all attack at once, so you gotta prioritise. Speris Legacy is fun and all, just not as good as I was hoping that it would end up being. It turns out that DX-Ball was based on Megaball. Max Rally is cool

Played Walker, but never got past level 1. Was fun though, with a friend. Beast 3 was interesting for the physics puzzles, and it was indeed more playable than Beast 1 & 2. Played lots of Megaball (the AGA version), it was truly fun.

Walker is not known to be the easiest of games. You gotta prioritise your targets or they'll overwhelm you. And even if you do, it's still hella difficult. xD Megaball is hella fun! :)

Naughty Ones was quite well made quality wise, I actually enjoyed finishing the game back in the day, although didn't found it hard at all :P Walker was a bit of a challenge, because I didn't had space to place mouse on back then, and so as many people did I held mouse in air with one hand, and used fingers of the other hand to control the ball in a reverse trackball fashion (learned it from another Amiga user :P). So keeping one hand on joystick was a challenge since single hand use of mouse was possible, but not smooth nor very accurate :P The Last Soldier I forgot about completely, I recall I wanted to like it for the shooting and enemy getting shot animations, but there was something preventing me from having fun - will have to check it again, thx for reminder.

Holy moly! Never heard of the reverse mouse trackball aiming technique. Would definitely try it out back then. Today it's both, impossible and pointless with the gaming mice that we have. xD

@@OldAndNewVideoGames I think I saw it first in my local arcade. Amiga 500 was wired to one of the arcade cabinets, but externally, so the owner was switching floppies and used mouse when needed (often just to proceed from cracktro/trainers screen) from inside his booth :P Incidentally that was the Street Fighter 2 "arcade" experience I've got in Poland :P

@@FromWitchSide You for real? How did the machine get coins then? Did you had to slide them in periodically every 5 minutes or so, so that the controls would work or was it some kind of a different mechanism altogether?
@FromWitchSide
@FromWitchSide 6 ай бұрын
@@OldAndNewVideoGames No coins, you would just pay the owner by the hour. The cabinet would only serve as the screen, speakers and joysticks. This setup would be later "updated" to MegaDrive, Saturn and PSX (N64 and up got TV with chairs), although for consoles their controllers would just hang there and be used instead of cabinet's joysticks. That arcade was also where the whole city was getting their pirates, hardware, and the owner even modded Pegasus famiclone gamepads to work as 2 button Amiga controllers.

@@FromWitchSide You know that a buddy of mine was thinking about just that. Of opening a museum of computing and gaming in our town, with various machines there to play. Free to watch and learn about, and play in an arcade part of it, also rented in a similar way but either per hour or 30mins. He would provide the systems and funding, and I was suppose to be a curator. But something did not work out with our local government, funding and whatever else, so he dropped the idea. And eventually moved into board games, so... But it was a fun perspective. I was thinking about doing some walkthrough of exhibits with presentation of software, games, capabilities, and perhaps a history of them too, if viewers would be into it... One can only dream, right? ;)

7:40 You know, I never bought Shadow of the Beast 3. I loved the look and sound of the first game, but playability was terrible. The second game wasnt very good, so I ignored the 3rd assuming it would be more fo the same. I'll have to find a copy and see if I like it :)

Walker looks great & it’s well put together but gameplay doesn’t “flow” If you see what I mean? Never played it 2 player. Never played The Speris Legacy looks great & sounds from what you’ve said like it could be fun? Even if it’s not the best. Yikes! Super Taekwondo Master is hard on the eyes! Glad I never played that one. 😄 Carcharodon by contrast is indeed beautiful but kind of uninspiring to play. Still it’s not actually bad. Honestly I didn’t play Shadow of the Beast III back in the day because 2 wasn’t great but from what you’ve said before I really should put it on the list to play. Sounds like Megaball 4.0 is one I should not skip, from what you’ve said. Same for Naughty Ones? In fact it looks like one I’d enjoy. Agent Cz is one I should skip unless I’m having trouble sleeping? I’m sure you’ve mentioned it before haven’t you? The Last Soldier looks like it could be fun? I don’t recall the N*zis having robots & laser forcefields though? 😄 Max Rally was good for a top down but I actually find top downs hard to play these days, I guess because I’m just used to 3D 1st/3rd person games? Micro Machines was always awesome back in the day & my GF & me played the crap out of it. Great 1st video of the year, thanks! I’ve said before it’s great to see games that never left Poland as they’re new to me, even if they aren’t the best ones it’s still interesting to see them.

Walker is fun but so difficult that it can get tedious failing so often. Speris Legacy is a really decent game. Just not as good as I hoped that it would be. Doesn't mean that it's not worth a try. If you think Super Taekwondo Master looks bad, you should see the non-super version. :) SOTB3 > SOTB2 > SOTB1 The third is way better than the earlier two. DX-Ball apparently was based on Megaball, so it kinda makes sense that they're both amazing. So, yeah, don't skip it if you like Breakouts/Arkanoids. Oh, and Naughty Ones are definitely worth a playthrough. The video don't show it well, as it's bit old, and I didn't remember when I record it what and how to do yet. Now I do. Yeah, we've had Agent CZ in another video. Not one covering Exes though. The Last Soldier while weird looking is definitely worth a look. And Max Rally too. But if you don't enjoy one, chances are you won't the other. Thank you! The next video is coming tomorrow. I'm like 90% sure it is. It's first for 1997 Windows, and the games are real good. For the whole year again. Windows was really growing into what it will become later (so home for all best games), and you can tell. :)
