Being an angler and an avid seafisher person im always sceptical of prepacked /battered squid and prawns as ive always found them tough and slightly fishy tasting (this could be down to the suppliers production line in factory) i love to make my own calamari, the best bit is the tenticles. If you can get some frish squid keith give it a try.. i wouldnt buy them whole like i do if you dont know how to clean and prep them cos it can get messy xx

Bloody hell keith , there was enough there to feed an army. Looked deicious. Fancy nit knowing nat wasnt keen on prawns etc. yer stir fry looked good, but too much sauce!!. I found a large squid on beach once being eaten by a gull. I picked it up and gave it to the wife and said heres that sick squid i owe you.😂 all best steve👍

Anything like that id just serve with the blue oyster sweet chilli sauce. That stuffs awesome, goes with anything like seafood, chicken or even pork.

There is no eay I'd eat calamari.Give me lobster or crab . My Grandad ,Dad and Uncles had a fishing bout when I was young .Not one of these fancy ones you see now but a modified wooden lifeboat. Putting lobster pots out at dusk and collecting them next night. All this before my Dad went for his shift at the pit.🦞🦀. Lorna

We never get scampi where I live,but I thought it tasted similar to prawns,is that correct?

​@JanetBrown-px2jn proper scampi is made from langustine a relative of the lobster giving it more of a sweet flavour (also langustine is more expensive per pound than lobster due the it's landing regulations.

Most scampi is reformed langustine pieces just made to look like tails whole scampi if you can get any will be very expensive.

@richardheaton8007 actually most supermarket scampi is made from North Atlantic prawn, look into youngs and the whitby fish co etc

Lovely meals keith something different,i tried squid in spain not for me,i can deal with prawns but not anything too fishy stir fry always a winner with a splash of soy sauce,good review keith😊😊

Calamari is delicious if you don’t like fishy seafood,it doesn’t have much taste,that’s why they batter it,also it can become chewy if cooked to much. I would never buy pre cooked calamari for that reason.I like it from a restaurant,and they give you a dipping sauce,again because it doesn’t have much taste.Greek restaurants stuff the whole bodies,and grill them.

That looks the business, Keith. I've had the same squid from Farmfoods, and it is proper tasty...tender too. Only thing is, I'd have to have a few shakes of soy sauce over me meal. Glad Nat's up and about, too👍

That meal looked lush keith,but im same as Nat,i wish i liked prawns,but i just dont,1 or 2 and its enough for me.i love that type a meal thou with plenty of salad and different flavours 😊
