For anyone wishing to scratch build vehicles or buildings, use EVA foam for armour panels, I've found it incredibly useful and it sticks really well to pretty much anything using supeglue.

In the day and age of 3D printers everywhere, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a section in White Dwarf that covers custom or scratch builds with the templates on how to do it? I cherish my Rogue Trader Spartan tank, built from the first edition Rhino and Land Raider models.

As someone who's Dad was in quality control at Rowntrees, Polo's were based on an American mint (Sen Sen I think) which the US government shipped presses for so the US troops could have home comforts during one of the wars, I forget which. Polo holes were an in joke which were made in the '90's if I remember rightly but I have no knowledge of a US equivalent.

Great and funny vid again,the eldar was released as a musician as the pipes go to organ pipes on the rear,there was one playing a harp and one with a synthetic for a command unit.i have painted up a couple of mentor legion to go with a rogue trader hero and a large retenue of imperial guard and a 100 or so original squats for a force,the tank turret I belive is from a tamiya British matilda tank and most of the rest scratch built,the wheels are proberly jar lids as it was what we had to do then not like what's available now for all you johnny come latelys.

For the last one the front 'sheep's is clearly from a Steamroller, the front Turret was made from a ping pong ball and the turret was probably from a tank the owner had chopped or broken the barrel off.

Tyranids were definitely a thing in Rogue Trader and that chaos marine could very well be using a captured Tyradid/Zoat weapon.

That tank could be a Rhino kitbash, but there's a chance it could be using a kit representing seveal vehicles based on the Thiokol Snowcat, possibly the Battlestar Galactica Landram.
@SnakeWorksStudio5 ай бұрын
I did not know there were ground vehicles in Battlestar Galactica! which version?
@evanlindsey11005 ай бұрын
The original 1978 version. The Landram wasn't the first vehicle to use the snowcat chassis. The 60s Lost in Space show had an exploration vehicle called the Chariot that was built off of a snowcat.

Looking through these old 40K models is great fun. Also quite by chance, someone in my local area is going to get a great deal soon as I am getting rid of all my collected White Dwarf issues that I started collecting from edition 98 onwards. The Fire Hawks " legion of the Damned ", the Mentor Legion, models showing 4 legged Eldar titans.....all amazing stuff.

The Chaos Space Marine mini was at a time when that green colour was a big favourite for Chaos models - there were lots of Warhammer fantasy Chaos Warriors painted the same colour by GW's studio painters. The organic looking bolter was a nod to both the cover art from WD, and to the illustrations in the original Realms of Chaos Hardback, Slaves to Darkness. Tyranids were about by then (a couple of blister releases, and the 'nid warrior prototype and Zoat models featured in the Rogue Trader Hardback), but they were still experimenting with the CSM look at that time - no two models looked the same, and by today's standards, they'd all be considered as massively OP - they all had a very "chosen" or "possessed" look to them.

The organic mutation thing is probably an HR Giger reference ( the dude that inspired Alien). In the original Realm of Chaos books you could get Tyranid mutations probably so they could sell his bits to Chaos Players.

With Chaos marines I always tend to favour the symbol over the armour colour. He obviously simply hasn't yet she'd enough Blood for the Blood God or added enough Skills for the Skull Throne to have earned his Red yet.

I believe, though never be able to dig it up, the Marines face, or ALL Space Marines faces (for Rogue Trader) were explained at one point; essentially Moon Face or Cushing's Syndrome due to all the drugs pumped into them. There was...a specific article/thread on this years and years ago, if memory serves. Then...they went grim-dark and heroic, and everyone had to look Angelic. Ahh the sweet sweet pain and whimsy of being a Rogue Trader Marine. A better Marine, IMO. Sigh...just my opinion.
@SnakeWorksStudio5 ай бұрын
Would you prefer a return to the old style of marines?
@therealorkdung5 ай бұрын
I would. It is Fantasy though, so does it really matter that, officially GW has it's Angelic Angels, and I perhaps, have my Rogue Trader era Marines (or play in that sandbox), no it does not. To each their own. 🙂 @@SnakeWorksStudio

Interesting I thought Nob with orks meant "Not Ordinary Boy" cause they were big uns. But that makes sense, I'm sure we serfs referred to the aristocracy as The Nobs back in the day.
