There are two female Japanese drummers on the Drummer World 500 of the best Drummers ever website; Senri Kawaguchi who originated this tune and Yoyoka who at 7 played this live in a club with a band of adults. This is a window where we can glimpse the incredible skill she has to grasp a song then execute it with precision and soul. At 7. 7 years old. In the US that is a second grade student. So whatever superlatives you can come up with we all come to the place Mr. B gets to . . . speechless! Thanks Mr. B!!!

Thanks for all the reactions you on on our little wonder, and for all the respect you show her! She's actually been playing live on stage in paid gigs since she was 4. She's played hundreds of gigs in bars and clubs. She is endorsed by Pearl and visited their headquarters in Japan, where she put in a lot of time, playing all of the different snares, etc, and selected each piece one by one. She even drew the little rabbit with drumsticks that you see on her bass, and Pearl put that on the bass she selected. They even named that specific kit after her, and offer it for sale to the public. She has done videos on all of this, including when she received the kit an opened it piece by piece. She was so excited. If you want any links, I'll be glad to provide them. I don't recognize the names, but the bass player (Madon or Madoon) is her Aunt.

Thank you very much for the info I have plans to do a reaction to a lot of her other video's at some point it's just a time thing I may be retired but I don't know where the time goes lol
@Glen.Black.3 жыл бұрын
@@OldMrB I've been retired for 15 years, and still don't have free time. Stay busy and stay healthy. One leads to the other. She has also started doing One Girl Band Covers (Vocals (in English), with 3 harmonies, 3 Guitars, keys, and of course drums). When she does these, she films the process and does all the production herself.

Something you said hit home with me. "I'm glad I'm around to see this". I was around to see all the great British bands when they came to the U.S. and followed countless number of musicians and enjoyed thousands of hours of listening. As I hit my 70s, I thought I had come to the end of the road as far as being excited about a new musician. You can't force that kind of excitement. When I started following Yoyoka, it was like a gift that I never expected to receive again. So I can relate to your enthusiasm. Also, a shout-out to Band-Maid and your reactions - thanks !

We've all exhausted our vocabularies where this clever little wee thing is concerned. So relieved that Mr B spoke mainly of Yoyoka the person and gave her technical prowess a wide berth: we've heard it, seen it and no further pointers necessary! 👍

@@OldMrB cool. Finally got through that list of Japanese new / newish bands. Must have about 30 of them. Some are ok and am more than willing to wait and give them a chance to see how they get on. Would have many more but thankfully a few of them aren't on KZbin or social media yet otherwise it could have been close to 50 bands

Great performance and to do a Senri track is great as Senri is one of my favourite drummers along with Tamu. Steady on with saying you are "knocking on a bit" as I think you must be roughly of ages with me (turned 68 this month and still feeling (fairly) young

With Mom (Rie) Lead Vocals, Dad (Akifumi) on Guitar, Aunt (Madoon in background) on Bass, and I don't know the musician on the left, but this is their family band. Still only 24 Senri is widely considered Japan’s greatest drummer. Senri was doing the Yoyoka thing at a tender age, though now plays mainly fusion and jazz funk. The same goes for 18 year old Kanade Sato - another hyper-talented Yoyoka predecessor. Senri at 16, and Kanade at 11 are playing one of the greatest ever drum duets here kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqTJZHediJh_e6M
