Can't wait to see more. As someone who started playing OSRS recently (since around 08 lmao) and has seen almost nothing about RS3 other than brief clips and a lot of "RS3 P2W and bad", it's nice to both indulge my nostalgia a bit (alongside me just... playing OSRS) and to see how things have evolved. Kinda wish we could get a happy middle-ground between OSRS and RS3, though, because the visuals in RS3 are amazing, and that's coming from someone who loves the simplicity of RS2/OSRS.

@@marxist-leninist-protagonist It just does. Runescape wasn't really balanced back then and lots of jank are still found even in RS3. Bear in mind, in OSRS in order to make Rune armor, which wasn't even that good after dragon and barrows and all other good equipment, it would take lvl 90ish Smithing (and or mining if you wanted to source the ore yourself) for a lvl 40 armor set... In RS3 the levels were adjusted, rune armor is now lvl 50 and it takes lvl 50 smithing to make, a much needed change, but boy did it piss a lot of people since "it'd ruin the economy". Yea, players are more concerned about their bank rather than the game finally making some sense and being balanced.

@@vartosu11 I don't doubt that, seeming as hardcore OSRS players just love to waste thousands of hours clicking it away. I love the game and have strong nostalgia for it, but never been able to get through like level 40 (because I was very young, but also) because the grind is just inhumane. Pointless, if you will. I guess there is some weird meritocractic "pride" of spending a lot of time playing (or suffering through) the game. Plus refusing to let things change. But that shouldn't be put above making it better and the experience healthier.

Technically if you were to do 10hp pure or 1 defence pure you wouldn't do it in f2p, dragon slayer should be enough to get you 30 if not close to 30

He was excited because he hyped himself up for what he expected to be a tough quest. In truth, all the difficulty comes from the walking distances, as well as the dark wizards being a pest, but the demon itself tips like a lame cow. In RS3, this is just a beginner level quest with cool visual elements, cool lore implications, set up for further quests along the line, useful rewards and introductory PvM mechanics to give new players a taste of what future combat feels like.

I did Monkey Madness on both Osrs and Rs3....Osrs you have to go back to the bank and take all the MOST important items and use it to its full potential and be cautious not to die to some other random rng. You need to stock up perfectly in osrs or else you need to do more trips back and forth. Rs3 however.....I did it in one trip. You dont need stamina/energy. You can just rest. You dont need to stock up inventory because your toolbelt already covers so much shit. You barely need food because you can kill random npc's and let your "special bar" consume itself over to your hp meaning you literally dont need food. You just need the quest items/anti poison and you are good to go. There is a huge difference. Rs3 just seems x10 easier than osrs thats all. For some they love it, others hate it. For me, Monkey Madness part 1 was a step into end game when I was a kid. I even had to get my older brother to play my account to do the quest since it was so scary and very complicated. Now? its a cake walk. You just start the quest and ezpz 10 min later no bank trip.

You really can't compare the two games in terms of difficulty like this. Monkey Madness isn't even considered midgame in RS3 anymore so it wouldn't make sense for it to be difficult. In fact, God wars equipment which is pretty much the start of endgame in OS, is just barely touching midgame for RS3. To put things into perspective, OS midgame starts when you unlock Dragon and Barrows equipment, at around 60-70 base combat but this is only early game in terms of RS3-where midgame starts much later at level 85-90 base combat with GWD2 and Araxxor equipment. To go even deeper, in pre-godwars RS2, midgame starts at 40 base combat with Rune equipment, with Dragon and Barrows being endgame. So if you want a more accurate comparison, look at how long it takes for you to get to endgame in OS as opposed to how long it takes you to get to endgame in RS3.

First of all, I play both games, although lately I have been playing osrs more. And although I cant say much about monkey madness in current rs3, because I did the quest way back in I think 2007 or 2008. I can say that monkey madness in osrs is not the same as when you were a kid. I know the quest back in the days was quite an accomplisment for me, but in osrs I did the quest before I could even wear a dragon scimitar and the quest isn't that different or might even exactly the same as back in 2007/2008. This might because of the reason I didn' t know much about the game back in 2007/2008. But I can say that monkey madness in osrs is definitely not an end game quest, so comparing your memories of the good old days with rs3 are probably not that reliable. Monkey madness could also been really difficult for you if you didn't have 43 prayer. That shit is broken af, and with the wildy altar its not really an achievement anymore unless you are an ironman. In RS3 prayer doesn't fully protect you and instead of taking a few prayer pots with you, you can heal on npc's with your adrealine (although I don't really like this mechanic, but later during the game everyone keeps their adrealine up anyway to deal more damage) Furthermore we need to remember that quest guides where not really that good back in our days, it was the first time we did the quest and slayermusiq1 didn't exist back in the days, which make quest more difficult. Lastly the game evolves, what might have been a difficult quest back in the day is now an easier quest, but other more difficult quest are designed, for example dragon slayer 2 and sliske's endgame, compared to these quests monkey madness feels like a breeze, although it was a difficult quest back in the days. TLDR: We became better at the game and the game keeps evolving.

Edit: So far on my adveture,ive finnished 26 quests and in full gear adamant armour with weapons and healing with cakes and farmed 1M gp a day collecting eggs while i mostly enjoyed the story and challenges,its been the best 6 days of my life. No, it's actually around bronze tier since Demon Slayer is now a beginner-level quest. It scales up some tiers when fighting demons, and it can be upgraded twice through questing to become fairly decent for slayer tasks.

For your max skill goal i assume you arent including the extra skills RS3 has over OSRS? If i recall correctly (Its been a while) Dungeoneering has a cap of 120 where the others have 99. that and RS3 has 3 or 4 additional skills over OSRS

Certain ones like dungeoneering, slayer, herblore, and farming do have new content between 99-120 though. Either way, it's true you only need 99 for max cape

They changed the design of every armor set for every metal so they don't all look the same! It's also easier to reach certain metals now because they added a few new metals to balance the skilling milestones a bit more!

Does Silverlight still weaken all other demons? Way, way, WAAAAAAAAAY back in the day I remember using it to weaken demons to hunt them. I was something like level 43 and the other people hunting them were 60s-80s

@@marcusisahooper I am talking like 2002ish I was using that trick. You would switch to Silverlight for the first hit and would weaken normal demons like it did to the quest one so you would barely take any damage from them then you switched to your normal weapon to finish them off.

At least in RS3, Silverlight and Darklight (its upgraded version) get a damage and accuracy bonus against most types of demons, so they're pretty good as a cheap alternative to (roughly) tier 70 weapons during slayer tasks. I don't think they apply a debuff on the demon, however.

I’m definitely biased, but I try to be as fair as I can in this series. I really do like OS (I go back and forth on my main), but I usually record my OS first then RS3. Because of this, I’m usually talking about RS3 more because that’s when I get to see the differences. I’ll try to be more neutral in my comparisons!

Both OS and RS3 point out that Delrith was massively weakened by the summoning process, but had the potential to become very dangerous if left alone. At least he has some interesting mechanics in RS3 that introduce new players to PvM and keep them on their toes; in OS, he fights just like a city guard, while the actual threats are the pesky dark wizards.

I disagree with the approach to the story telling in RS3. Yes, the actual puzzle mechanics were redesigned to be more engaging, but the story itself treats you as if you are some special 'chosen one'. Meanwhile OSRS treats you as if you are just some random adventurer, and you need to *work* for the fame you get in that game. Why on earth would three ancient guardian ghosts even consider some random noob as being worthy of silverlight? In OSRS it's explained that the descendant who has the sword is incompetent and cowardly, and so he has no issues giving you the sword. They also seem to have completely removed the tie in with the purification ritual of the stone circle that is in OSRS.

I do agree that a lot of quests put more importance on the player, but I think in this version anyone can get Silverlight if they pass the tests. However, they imply that not just anyone could pass all the tests.

only after the grandmaster quests that start from the World Wakes does the game start treating you like a chosen one. and it actually makes sense, because by the time you complete the World Wakes, you have'v already killed/defeated several godlike cretures like the mahjarrat, dark lord, and all of the gods' top generals

Marcus Hooper I must say. Rs3 looks like a much better game. However everything being simplified is one of the turn offs for me. I would love to jump back in and play both but then they add things like cosmetic items you buy with real money.. starts to feel more like a game for children when I see people running around with flaming wings on their backs. I agree that things are simplified in rs3 but I'm guessing that's because you can get further in the game now like 120s being the endgame goal rather than how it was before when it was only 99s. I guess it's their way to give newer players (and also the busy ones) that sense of achievement when getting a 99 but still making it rewarding for older players (and ones that have more time to play) by making content for 120s. As for the cosmetics, I guess it's more of a personal preference thing. I also don't like it lmao but i gotta admit some cosmetics are pretty cool like the ones that pay homage to the old school armour designs! :D

If you didn't know, playing as an ironman in rs3 has absolutely no mtx! No bonus or double xp or treasure hunter whatsoever so it encourages you to play fairly lmao, it's great tbh.

It wasn’t out yet! I love HD Oldschool, but the thing I love most about RS3’s graphics is not just “Oh it looks better,” but I really enjoy how they seemed to lean more into the whimsical fantasy aesthetic! It’s not so much that it’s HD, but I prefer the vibrant colors and the whimsy of the newer style!

Okay Time out - why are you doing the same shit the TV dose? The Intro is annoyingly loud and then every skit is also loud, if I try to keep it down then the regular talking is barely audible.
