The UK crows are truly great, but watch "I want my tears back from Bueno Aires, and you'll see that Latin American (in this case Argentina), are in a league of their own. I say this as a danish fan, that have been at festivals allover Europe (mainly in Germany, UK and Scandinavia). It is always a pleasure seeing new people falling in love with a new band, and good catch on the paul mccartney, I didn't notice it but I went and checked it out and your absolutely correct.

It's just amazing to me but how can a soprano do growls like that? She's just incredible. She can be a scary as she wants as far as I'm concerned.
@deeteenw
@deeteenw 3 жыл бұрын
False chord screams (as the name implies) have nothing to do with the primary vocal chords that basically are determining your maximum range (soprano etc.). Their pitch is more about the resonance room you can create in your head for them.

@@deeteenw Thanks for the explanation. It's really more her ability to instantly go from a growl to singing and back again that amazes me. That and windmilling - if I tried that, I'd break my neck - either that or just pass out and lay there like land-locked tuna.

Actually, Floor is quite vocally "tamed" in Nightwish. Don't get me wrong, her vocal range is amazing and Tuomas is pushing her to explore a lot of complicated and new vocal areas, but if you want to hear scary wild powerful Floor you may want to check her previous band ReVamp.

You probably mean her harsh distorted metal voice in ReVamp, I think youre right she was awesome there ....and to be honest a bit more pure metal sound then in Nightwish. She has also other qualities to mix her ReVamp voice with headvoice singing like we used to with Tarja. You can hear this in Greatest show on earth and stargazers. Ghost Love Score had some nice beltings. She is quite versatile which makes her able to perform on many NW songs. But the metal sound of ReVamp, only this song comes close. The mexican version of this song has some better growlings though. You might have to love some different styles of singing to love most of the NW music nowadays.

You are so right about the UK fans - I am from Denmark but I was on that concert you just watched. Plus in 18 I was at Manchester and Wembley again to see the Decades concerts - and the UK crowd loves Nightwish - but you haven't seen anything yet from this particular concert - it was mind blowing.. But I must tell you that the South American concerts are in another league - here all the rest of the world could learn a lot. One of the others from the Army had given you a link to the Buenos Aires 2018 concert from the Decades world tour - the song "I want my tears back" - Floor dancing going crazy all over the stage and 8000 people dancing along ( and you will meet Troy!). But actually Floor is quite unique in bringing people "on board" - in the Wacken 2013 concert, maybe half of the crowd were singing for her in "Amaranth" - and that's over 40.000 singing!! - in this Wembley 2015 concert on their opening song "Shudder before the beautiful" everybody (12.500) went from zero to lightspeed in seconds.. Nightwish is the ultimate live band - but you will see - and experience!! Because that's what they do - they give you an experience in their story telling - messing with your emotions. Another European band: Ayreon - "The Day that the world breakes down" from the Album The Source - 11 of the greatest singers in the world in this introduction song to the album. Or Epica - "Santa Terra" with Floor as guest star. Nice introduction to Epica. You could also watch good old fashioned sweaty hard rock with Floor and Bjørn Viggo Lofstad in: While Love Died, Northward Enjoy the ride👍👌🤘🤘

Another thing that has to be mentioned, here you can see different drummer from the first two Wacken songs you reacted to. That was Jukka Nevalainen, this is Kai Hahto. Jukka was the original Nightwish drummer but unfortunately he had to quit playing in 2014 while they were recording their 8th studio album Endless Forms Most Beautiful due to severe insomnia problem, which lasted for years. He asked his very good friend Kai Hahto, who used to play drums for Wintersun, if he could replace him to finish the recording of the album and for the upcoming tour, while he gets his insomnia under control. Unfortunately Jukka never came back, we all miss him, his style and energy was amazing, but fortunately Jukka is well now and still with the band in management and Kai is amazing drummer and great person so he became Nightwish family immediately and was made permanent member of the band. Here is the video where it was announced Jukka is stepping away from playing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYiahX2ZqtqMnbM

The crowd in Argentina is insane. For example, they even sang the guitar solo in "Ghost Love Score". Please react to "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean - Live In Buenos Aires (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO)" and "7 Days To The Wolves (Live at Wembley Arena)" If you want to react to Marco Hietala (bassist) you can react to "The Islander (Live At Tampere)" or to a concert back in the days a tribute to Pink Floyd "High Hopes - Nightwish" Marko also release a solo album in 2019 first in finnish, then in english. He toured for it in 2020 and I saw him and his band in a small venue at Paris in France in February, two weeks before the lockdown. A fantastic show I keep in my mind and in my heart.

Apocalyptica is another fun one from Finland. Main band play 3 cellos and drums. They don't have a singer so they borrow them from others. Two of the most liked songs seem to be "Not strong enough" vocals by Brent Smith of Shinedown and "I Don't care" with Adam Gontier of Saint Asonia. They've had singers from bands like Rammstein, Sabaton, Slipknot and many others. Their first album was Metallica covers and on some tour they had James Hetfield signing. Second album was also Metallica covers but also some from Sepultura, Faith no More and Pantera. Those were back in the 90s, they've had plenty of their own stuff after that.

Hi, great reaction yet again. I commented on your last reaction about compartmentalising NW and how difficult it would be. As a big fan from the UK, I'd like to thank you for your kind words about our audiences. I also noted your likening us to the days of the Queen concerts of which I'm exceedingly proud and privileged to say I was there for the filmed concert at the old Wembley Stadium in 1986 - I literally floated out of that Stadium afterwards - it was beyond description! I guessed your Paul McCartney and Wings , Live and Let die part - he always tries to subtly pay homage to certain composers be it Bach , Metallica (Greatest Show on Earth) there was another movie reference that you missed which is Psycho shower scene keyboard (slashing knife sound). Anyway, I'm jabbering on - I'd like you to cover a number that they do when they give Floor a chance to rest and change costumes - it's such a happy number entitled 'Last of the Wild' - being of Celtic extraction it does things to me!! So joyful. Take care!

Nightwish Army reporting for duty in Southern California. My recommendation for you is to check out Endless Forms Most Beautiful from their Tampere show. You will love the rock vibe. I am also recommending you resist the temptation to watch Poet & The Pendulum until you have had the chance to get to know Tuomas, the keyboardist and composer of most of their songs. There is a lot of back story to that song, and if you don't dig in ahead of time to learn it, you will miss the crux of the lyrics. My 2 cents worth.

Other interesting somewhat Nightwish-related stuff: . "Bad Santa", Marco, doing some solo stuff: Isäni Ääni (Voice of my Father) in Finnish: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaHCnIGshbafp5o If you want the English Lyric version, it's here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqjZoqOIh6h3mqc , but I recommend the Finnish version. It's more emotional. It's about how he misses his father, but can here him in his own voice every day. . Sabaton (Floor is married to the drummer): 82nd all the way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn22YY1um8ycf6s . Amaranthe (Elize Ryd, the lead singer, once auditioned for Nightwish, also she jumped in for previous Nightwish singer when she was in the hospital during the infamous Denver concert as depicted in the documentary you'll find linked in my other post around here), making a more lighthearted cover of Sabaton's 82nd all the way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpnIoaqqgLdoosk . They are overflowing with love for this band and anyone who wants to learn and share that love with them can expect them to show up whole-heartedly. They will give you information about the band. They will show you their favorite versions of their favorite songs and they will share your views with other members of the army. From what I've seen they are a very unique fandom. Yeah, when you start listening to Nightwish it can really seem like every song is a different genre. They are really hard to pin down, being everything from metal to rock to folk. One slight niggle, I know you've been told that Floor's surname Jansen is pronounced Yansen. After this long to correct yourself, it seems a little insulting. Not that I'm suggesting that a squadron of Nightwish Army Death Commandos is wheels up en route to Louisiana, you seem perfectly nice and you're right that Floor is a lovely person. Re other suggestions, I will vote for Epica, founded by a former bandmate of Floor and whose singer is Floor's BFF. "Sancta Terra" from their anniversary show features Floor as a guest.

Marko could sing the Finnish Xmas song "Santa Claus bites and hits/beats you up." Someone said this Nightwish Wembley Arena 2015 concert was voted the 2nd best at Wembley right after Queen.

Oh. You want to know Finnish bands? I’m in Alaska but all the same, here are a few of my favorites: Nightwish Sonata Arctica Beast in Black Dark Sarah Charon Battle Beast Poets of the Fall Apocalyptica And since I see you’ve also discovered the mighty Sabaton from Sweden, I’ll go ahead and throw in my other favorite Swedish band Brothers of Metal. All very worth checking out.

Great reaction. That Wings comparison was interesting, good reason to listen Live And let Die for a long time.

And another great reaction. Thanks. Like others have mentioned below, try "I want my tears back", specifically the Buenos Aires show 2018. That is not as aggressive but the crowd goes WILDE (the entire show, but that song most of all) I was not clear if you noticed, but the dark growl in the refrain was not Marko, it was Floor.

Really enjoying your reactions, and that you give a mention to the Mighty Motorhead, a band I've loved far longer than I've loved NightWish, since 1979 in fact! 🤘

Other good metal bands from Finland are for example Amorphis (try for example 'Silver Bride ' or 'The Bee'), Insomnium (try 'While We Sleep') and Children of Bodom (try 'Downfall').

Well Done OldSkuleNerd. If your looking for another band, I love, Try Epica Consign to Oblivion or Santa Terra Feat Floor. Another suggestion for you is Nightwish the early years, Marko singing Pink Floyd's High Hopes which i believe is better than the original.
