If you drain the old electrolyte out of the battery, flush it with distilled water, then refill it with fresh electrolyte, there is a high probability that it will work again. It's worth a try.

I am not that familiar with maritime artifacts but that is a beautiful old piece and good that you saved it. Amazing that the original light bulbs still operate. Excellent work!

I was shocked that the bulbs still worked after all that time. You made it into an art piece! Really beautiful.

Ever heard of a thing called planned obsolescence? It started when a bunch of major lightbulb manufacturers got together and agreed they would make their lightbulbs last much shorter, in order to make more money. They also bought out all the smaller companies that didn't go along with them to dominate the market. Lightbulbs used to last forever. That's a bit of an exaggeration of course, but yes, I don't know when these lightbulbs were made before then, but it's not impossible.

S.A.F.T. must have made excellent cases for their batteries: I expected this one to have been eaten through by the acids that appeared to have leaked out, but as your shot at the end shows, the case is still in splendid condition. Nice job, will be watching more of your work 👍

This is like the sixth restoration KZbinr I’ve watched and everyone of them polish the brass. I personally love the look of antiqued brass it’s character. And I know everyone has their own person taste. I just can’t believe that of the hundreds of videos and several restoration KZbinrs I’ve watch not one has left the natural patina.
Not only are the restorations really interesting but the cinematography and audio is actually really great too!! Nice work!

Very nice work. I like the fact that you don't needlessly change things for the sake of it, and only when required (ie, the battery). A lot of people would have tried to add USB charging, LiIon batteries, LED's etc. I would not have liked that. So thank you for keeping what you can intact. I just wish things were still made this well.

mast top anchor light most likely. Drop anchor and you are legally required to have a white light at the top of your mast overnight. So any boats coming in after dark know you are there.
