OLED Monitors & More At Gigabyte's CES Booth

Gigabyte the only company I respect at CES because they didn't cheap out with DP 2.1 by scraping the bottom of the barrel of profits unlike some other companies. Monitors are one of the few things that can be considered future proof considering how long people keep them for. DP 1.4 should be criminal.

Not really any news in monitor 49 T have been on the marked for years now. But he seems happy to view one for the first time in his life. And also 5120x1440 is also not any news what so ever. Just Gigabyte that have pushed out one like the rest on the marked.

Exactly as soon as I heard 5120x1440 I thought ''skip''. I have a 5120x1440 monitor that is 6 years old at this point like wtf. Enough with that resolution now there are already so many of these similar monitors on the market. Lets try do something a little different eh?

Certainly looking forward to a 34-38in curved ultra wide in the x1440p screen. Hoping that the whole text fringe issue gets better on these newer OLED panels. IPS Black with three 2000:1 contrast also has me interested

REALLY dislike ultra wide. If I can't look straight ahead and see almost everything it's not good for me. I'd rather have something like a flat 2K 32" OLED that's actually affordable ALONG with being HDR. There are a few 32" affordable monitors but pretty limited. I at least found a nice 32" 2K monitor 144Hz so I'm happy with it but would like to see the step up to OLED and HDR AND be affordable,

360hz. But game was locked to 175. Via fps counter top left.... Lmao. Why? Im guessing the PC hardware wasnt up to snuff to get 360fps? My 7800x3d + 7900xtx gets well over 400fps in cs2 🤷

@@iDexy88 That's what a lot of the misinformed asserted about plasma vs LCD. Guess which one died rather ignominiously? Unless and until they can completely eliminate the burn in/wear and cost issues with OLED LCD isn't going anywhere.

That doesn't change the FACT that OLED has a superior contrast ratio, TRUE BLACKS, and way faster response times (not to be confused with input lag) which is CRITICAL for gaming. There's a reason why the Steam Deck now uses OLED. There's a reason why the Nintendo Switch now uses OLED. There's a reason why the PSVR2 uses Micro OLED. LCD looks like washed out garbage. 🤮🤮🤮

@@PSYCHOV3N0M And these were some of the very buzz words being bandied about in favor of plasma vs LCD. I am familiar with the technology. I understand the unrolled acronym/abbreviation. I am also aware of the {dis,}advantages. I still have a visually perfect Dell 2001FP. No current OLED is going to be able to make such a boast in 23years. Nothing you wrote changes current reality with the technology. It still has some major shortcomings that serve to gate equivalent LCD-level adoption. The panel sizes found in devices like handhelds are effectively disposable toys; cast-off leftovers from large mother panels. That's not to say they don't look nice. But having to factor the panel into a more frequent "consumable" bucket than the battery/SSD is a huge con and insufficient ROI over LCD. I'll stick w/my gen 1 steam deck and the gloriousness of the g9 57" w/in all its LCD glory. The only potentially compelling changes would be IPS panels (although due to the curve off-axis viewing isn't really a thing) and/or full 8K panel.
