In ukrainian language Ukrainian verbs ends in [-ти]. To form the past tense, you drop the [-ти] and add the correct verb ending. The new ending must agree in gender and number with the verb's subject (the [who] or [what] that is performing the action). If the subject is plural, the past tense verb must be plural. Often, the past tense verb ending rhymes with the subject ending.

I love your language lessons, and the Slavic languages are especially beautiful to listen to. Have you ever taken a look at the website for Slovio? I'm wondering as an English speaker - how helpful would it be to study it? The claim made by its inventor, is that you can communicate with anyone from any Slavic language. What would your opinion be on it? Maybe you could do a video on it?

Hi Olga. Very good lesson. The only thing I don't understand is the sentence: Брат писав листа батьку. Why does батько change to батьку? I'm still learning about cases right now.

Can "Ви" and "Ти" be used interchangeably? Don't they mean the same thing?
@Olga_Reznikova
@Olga_Reznikova 8 жыл бұрын
No, they have different meaning. Ти is for one person and Ви is plural form. Also we use this word for politeness. For example, when you speak to elder person, you can't say ти

jonathanoz630 "ви" is informal or the polite way to address someone you don't know well. Similarly with "ваш/-a, -e", the possessive pronoun "your". If meeting someone for the first time, you would use "ви" and "ваш" "ти" is the formal form of saying "you". You use this when addressing a friend or someone you know well. The formal possessive pronouns are "твій/-оя/-оє". I hope this was useful to you!(:
