so it’s been a while since I checked in on the Oli london cinematic universe, and there’s been a lot of character developments in the past month. we have a divorce from BTS’ Jimin, a new obsession with tiktoker Vlad Hoshin, we traveled to the Philippines to learn google translated Tagalog, got some questionable plastic surgery, and much more! i haven’t been on tiktok recently but when I checked my account I fell down another rabbit hole of Oli making tik toks bothering koreans, japanese people and filipinos… except they sort of have a fanbase now? According to their Cameo, they’re highly rated and sought after. I’m confused and intrigued at how far this has spiraled out of control. I was just about to comment the same thing. Not only is Oli being racist to Jimin , and Korean people; but I also think Oli’s also mocking the LGBTQ+ community. Oli clearly stated that, “ I feel in the middle of being a male and female.” But also stated “ I identify as Korean, & Jimin.” So how am I supposed to believe anything Oli said in regards to Oli’s “coming out video.” The video was a way to get everyone’s attention & it worked. Oli is simply a “racist troll” who shouldn’t be given any attention😡.

Just so you guys know, as someone who uses they/them pronouns and as someone with a sibling who uses they/them pronouns, sometimes that sort of thing is said My sibling calls themself a 'girl' all the time for no reason, they dont identify as a girl but sometimes they use that to refer to themself, and rarely Ill say Im a boy or a girl (It switches depending on which side Im leaning to) It doesnt mean we dont use they/them pronouns and it doesnt mean we are invalid Im not defending him btw, I dont like him at all, Im just explaining that sometimes things like that happen, mostly for people who recently came out and have been referring to themself as a man or woman for years

I have a Filipino step mom and she'll probably just laugh when she hears him speaking Tagalog. But I doubt that she'll get offended. For those so called "genuine fans" of Oli, I think they're just having fun. Filipinos in general are happy relaxed lay on the beach type of people so Oli is just another entertainment for Filipinos and not necessarily a serious threat. I've been interested in Japanese and Korean culture due to popular media, and was interested in the Philipines ever since I learned about it in geography. I've never claimed to be an expert on the history of modern day culture of any place, even the places I've lived in, but if I say I like to listen to Kpop, and like learning Chinese, people aren't gonna take me seriously and will think I'm an Asiaboo, rather than truly interested in the Chinese language and culture, even though I'm interested in many, many cultures, especially my own.

As a 27 year old filipino born and raised in the Philippines, the tagalog sentences are correct. I don't know why the lack of period on the end of each sentences bothers me. I'm not like very fluent since tagalog is actually not my native language. Their's a lot of languages in the Philippines besides tagalog and english. Oli is pronouncing the words especily "sayo" in korean. I honestly would laugh to hear him say tagalog curse words without knowing it's a curse word.

We share some words in spanish that some words here we dont even know the filipino translation of that word bc we say it in spanish. They also introduced us to christianity thats why the main religion here are Christianity. Also, the Philippines was named after king Philip II of spain. U cant convince me that the Philippines isn't a hispanic country.

To be fair, his Tagalog is just very similar to a Filipino who lived in a predominantly non-Filipino community. They have this accent. Its not bad. but still I don't like Oli because even it's funny because he is ridiculous, he is still very problematic and racist. Talk to her about it, and directly state that you are afraid of messing up but are trying your best at learning the language. Tell her to correct your pronunciation/grammar, as this will help you improve. As a foreigner living in another country, I'm happy when people are interested in my language/ culture/ etc. as long as they are respectful (stereotype jokes are ok to an extent, I get it ) and not too annoying. If I'm running late don't annoy me with your questions, otherwise sure!
