This was a great vid - thank you for posting. It worked perfectly starting from the back w/ MAPS and working to Genesis. Great video. Sadly for me I had already had my Bible and tabs for about 2 years and hadn’t followed your sage advice. My tabs are a bit wonky, but the books are labeled and I’ve read through (w/ Fr. Mike Schmitz) once and am on my second time. So as you said at the very end, I am using my tools, even if they aren’t tabbed perfectly. I will definitely share your video with friends who are just getting their Great Adventure Bibles because I wish I had it as a reference when I tabbed my own. God bless you!❤️🙏🏻❤️

Update Olokehai: I followed your advice and waited until I was really patient and fixed my mistakes. With great care, tabs can be removed. I actually bought a second set just in case, and that helped a lot on about 8-10 places. I haven’t done the general tabs yet. It is not as perfect as the photo on the package, lol. But it looks pretty good. It got easier and faster as I went along. I only had a couple of tiny tears which were easily fixed with tape. Though not perfect, it is for my use in studying God’s word, and so I fully expect the Bible to get some wear just from use. This Bible is so beautiful.

Awesome! Yes, as I may have said in the video I had to redo a few tabs and like you I got a second set for potential fixes/replacement/repairs and then was able to use the extra tabs on the Bible that was handed out in RCIA/OCIA Instruction as I was a sponsor this year for a friend. 🙏🏽

To those like me, who despite watching the instructions 5 or 10 times have made a mess of the tabs, take heart! The Bible is gorgeous, inside and out,the explanations are great and the poorly done tabs will still make it easier to find where I want to go. Okay, a bit of rationalization. I am taking a break after the first half page. I am sad. But I will finish and there isn’t anything to be done once the tabs are messed up so I’ll make the best of it. I think they need to be thicker, wider, and not so fancy.

If you’re really careful you can redo them, but they tear easily so wait until you feel patient. 🤪

I took 1 look at the instructions, and couldn't understand them, once my bible comes, my dad will put the tabs on for me. I purchased the bible, and my dad boght me the index tabs and a carrying case for my bible. my bible I think comes this weekend. my dad also bought me a Catechism, which comes today.

Thank you so much! Did you put your tabs on the first page of each book, or on the page before? In other words, do you open the page by lifting the tab and turning the page over, which would make the tab end up on the left page? Or by sliding your finger on top of the tab and turning the page, making the tabs then on the right side of the page as you begin each book? Gosh, I hope that makes sense! Mahalo!

For most people it could probably be done in an hour or two; honestly it took me several days because I wasn’t in a rush and wanted to be able to explore the best possible ways to apply the tabs…plus I have somewhat large hands and found it fairly difficult to deal with all the little stickers without accidentally tearing them or making a mistake. It helped that I knew from the beginning that I wasn’t doing this for me, but in the hopes that this effort could help others like you! The Tabs were separate for me, I received the Bible as a gift and then purchased the Tabs afterwards. The publisher Ascension Press also had some sort of starter set for The Bible In A Year Program that might have included the tabs. They are launching a new program soon so they might have something like that again.

Just to clarify the tabs were made long before the Great Adventure Bible - I have had the tabs in another Bible for almost 9 years (2013) the Bible was released in 2018 almost 5 years after I went through the Great Adventure Bible Study program the first time in RCIA

Any chance of you providing a list of where you stuck the grey tabs that you used? Or any of the other tabs that are not the name of a chapter? I can see that you added Part 3 and Readings to The Church page, but than I got confused. I'm currently working backwards like you suggested, so I don't want to have to miss a tab.

In applying the supplementary tabs I did the following: White “General Index” page xv Gray “Topical Index” page xix Gray “Articles” page xxxi Gray “Prayers” page xxxvii White “Part 1” blank page before the Old Testament on the next page Gray “Readings” on page 3 White “Part 2” on blank page before New Testament on the next page Gray “Readings” on page 1261 White “Part 3” on page 1414 (also put an extra Gray “Readings” on that same page next to it) Gray “Maps” on page 1591 I had bought two sets of tabs in case I made mistakes so I had a couple extra tabs to work with. It is all personal preference so you are free to do whatever works best for you. Hope that was somewhat helpful. Aloha, Kai

I wish I got this bible to begin with... too late to return my bible and get my money back. while it's still a Catholic edition, I'm actually not very fond of the NRSV-CE translation, which is what I bought. I've been using a Bible app more because of this and have actually enjoyed ESV quite a bit, and it actually seems closer to the RSV-CE translation. I should have done more research from the start, but I didn't realize the importance of translations, and thought the only important part was getting a Bible that was a Catholic Edition. I suppose it's never a bad thing to own more than one Bible and have more translations, but I don't have a ton of money, and I feel like if I eventually get a better translation later on, most likely this very edition, then I may never pick up my original Bible again and it'll just collect dust.

Understandable If you’re a practicing Catholic then having a Catholic edition is essential, particularly if you plan to do study that includes the books that are not included in some other versions. I do recommend the Ascension Bible as the whole timeline feature makes it a lot easier to decipher the timeframe of the different passages. It also helps if you enjoy reading along with Father Mike in the Bible In A Year podcast. They also make a large print edition which I got for my parents last year. 🙏🏽

ps: The Bible that a person actually uses is with a hundred times more than one that gathers dust! You might ask your church as many will actually give you one if cost is the issue. Also the whole Bible is available within the Ascension App for free! 🙏🏽

Thank you for the video. I’m not sure why they include the template since it doesn’t line up correctly. Also wanted to mention I am greatly enjoying the Word on Fire Bible. They only have published three books - The Pentateuch, Gospels and remainder of the NT. It’s a “different” Bible and one I think a teacher would appreciate. Your video is hard to view because of the shadows of the tree branches and leaves hovering overhead and the shadows moving. It’s better to show the process in a little cleare lighting which would help viewers with compromised vision. FYI.
