Wait, how the hell do you have only so few subscribers and views on most of your videos? Your content is incredibly high quality and quantity. I don't know how you keep going with 70 views average but please do find it in yourself, you'll get there. This video right here is excellent and the type and quality of video anyone can hope to find about a new game reviewed in a timeframe we can actually afford to watch.

I've been eyeing this game for a while. What other co-op, story packed games like this would you guys recommend? (I thought about sleeping gods as well) Thanks for the great review by the way!! Just found your channel and glad I happened upon it
@COOPFORTWO2 жыл бұрын
Sleeping Gods seems like a good choice if you want some real narrative and a longer campaign. There are a lot of mystery cooperative games that I cover that are all about narrative and story -- finding such narrative elements in strategic games is a little harder. And harder still to get right. You might also try Pandemic LEGACY which is one of my favorite series and combines some small narrative with great strategy, and is a legacy game where things change over course of a campaign. -jesse

You could also try Mansions of Madness if you want more chaos and much more focus on narrative story. -jesse

I'll look further into MoM. Thanks for your recommendations and content!

@@scatter_brain Hey, I know this is a bit late, but it's not like board games ever really go out of style lol I would strongly recommend Forgotten Waters, for something that's a mix of Sleeping Gods and Mansions of Madness, but with a strong pirate theme and storytelling. If you're more into the Lovecraft Mythos stuff, since you were also interested in MoM, definitely check out Eldritch Horror and Arkham Horror Card Game, they're both a blast to play and even share the same Lovecraft-based settings and characters. The former leans more on the board game elements and gameplay, while the latter is fully card-based, as the name implies, and a bit more modular and customizable through various expansions. Both are co-op though.

Thanks for the video I’m trying to decide whether to get this…you mentioned going back and optimizing your actions and that makes me think of time stories…any similarities?
@COOPFORTWO2 жыл бұрын
I don't see much of a connection to time stories -- time stories is much more about learning what will happen and remembering what to do. Oltree is much closer to a tight euro optimization puzzle where your first playthrough you will have a little bit of narrative surprise, and then after that you will know what to expect BUT you won't yet have figured out how to beat it. I was not a huge fan of Time Stories -- this feels more like a real strategy game to me. -jesse

Well done review. One question - You say that there are other games in this genre. Name them, please.
@COOPFORTWO Жыл бұрын
Do you remember where in the video I said it or in what context I was referring to the genre -- was I talking about mechanics, or the story-based nature of the game, etc.?

This looks like a combination of Bauza's previous games (last bastion / ghost stories) but using the exact same board design to play Eldrich Horror on it in a much more compact and beautiful way. I'm a bit worried though about the size of those decks, looks like the game is already screaming for more content - not more features, just more of the same, more cards. It's kind of a problem when you are lucky to have the base game localized for your market language and there is virtually 0 chance for an expansion to get a release with the same language.

It looks like they've already got new expansions in the works: boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/352979/oltree-undead-alive

Where are you from? I'm from Brazil and I'm gonna have to buy the expansion(s) in English. If I can't grab them in English, I'm gonna sell the base game unfortunately.
