🤔 You have a point there. On the latest news on the wdsf website are pics of the 2024 Grand Prix ballroom dancing competitions. It also suggests that she wasn't any good at ballroom dancing because surely that would be within her capabilities to attain instead of breakdancing. 2018 checks out, as the decision to include the sport at the Olympics was made in 2020. But surely, discussions were being held beforehand and only the announcement was made in 2020. She could have thought, "I can't make it as an elite ballroom dancer, let me try this instead."

She humiliated the community and the Olympics so much that they eliminated the sport entirely, without debate so that it can never happen again.

The fact that she has practiced for "15 years" and has the skill set of a kid in elementary school is wild. Imagine practicing for that long and busting out the sprinkler, kangaroo hop, and lawn chair moves on the ground. The only thing I respect about the whole thing , is the fact that she actually went to the Olympics on an international stage, and still had the confidence to perform the worst dance routine I have ever seen . Takes some serious nuts ngl
@esphilee2 ай бұрын
I know, her performance is not world class, she can break dance to some extend. But this is not the problem. The bigger problem is, she scammed her way to the stage, and she deprive the other real talented Australian their chance to compete at the Olympic.

Some facts about the "Raygun" saga: 1) SHE helped form the commity that chose who was sent to the Olympics for breakdancing. 2) HER HUSBAND was one of the judges who decided who would go. 3) HER HUSBAND went with her, as her coach.
@Jilli83102 ай бұрын
Her husband wasn't a judge. I watched the qualifying event. It was incredibly sad. There were other break dancers that could have gone, none were too much better, but they were better than her. I think the judges chose her because she organized the qualifying event or they just were not good at judging. Plain and simple. Some people should not be judges.

She won selection because she had some knowledge of how the Dance Federation that was involved in setting up BreakAustralia which ran the Oceanica Qualifying Competition organised itself. She and her husband didn't have to be directly involved with these two organizations but knew how the professional Dance Sport bodies would have to be set up for the Olympics. The Breaking community of Australia is small, lacks financial backing had been more informal in its organizations. Also Australia is a massive country and transport to national Competition is usually done by air travel due time restrictions. She financially was better placed than most participants seeking qualifications due to her position as a university lecturer and influencer. She deliberately decided to try and over compensate by chosing to go for her interpretation of artistic presentation. She knew she was not skilled enough on power moves.
