I disagree with the idea that Ingebrigtsen was far from everybody else in term of speed over 5k. His pb is 12:48 and he had a big kick in that race where he destroyed Katir, Chepteguei and more. I agree with this and will only add Jakob is in great form this year. He is probably capable of more than 12:48. This day was not that day but it was clear the conditions probably were too hot for anyone to be running super fast. After the 1500 I think he would have been happy to be pushed into a hard honest pace. I don't think anything was going to stop him from winning this short of being tripped. A guy with a good kick will not mind a slower pace and it appears Jakob has learned to be a better tactician this year.

The runner who got 4th was by far the most visible runner during the race. He was front and center of the image 90 % of the time, always either 2nd, 3rd, or 4th until about a lap and a half, then falling behind but then showing an incredible kick to get 4th. Yet he was never mentioned. Not once. Several times every single runner in the image would be mentioned, including people who ended up far behind him. How can you explain that? Even the very fact that having a new and small country there along the African, North American, and European usual suspects should catch your eye. But you don't even need that. The guy WAS RIGHT THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND FINISH UP THERE AT THE END! Sorry, but as Spanish American with some experience dealing with people from the US, I have to say this is very common: for some reason people from places such as Guatemala seem to have invisible properties... I know it's par for the course, but still, you'd expect better from a video made by a former professional runner.

I am from norway and have heard how he trains and some comments from his brothers and father. They said that he is a lot better at 5000m because if he trains a lot of capacity and is better at 5k then 1500m. He can run up to 180km per week with 4 threshold session each week and one faster interval. My opinion on the race is that he would win eaither way if it got run at 12.40 or at 14.00 because he is the best 5000m runner at Thule because of he’s big capacity. My opinion if he Jakob wants he can become the best 10000m next y we r if he want, but he have said that 1500m is the most important distance for him. But I think can become the greatest of all time on any distance from 1500m to marathon. But probably will be best at 5000m and 10000m because of his capacity.

You did not even recognise the most important aspect of this race. I am now at 7.23 and before that what did Jakob do? He is from Norway and its cold/windy. Nothing like what the Africans are used to. He got dry in his mouth during qualifying, and so two times in the 5000 meter finals he drank/wet his mouth enough to be comfortable. It is important for him to know what he needs and adapt in the final race. Also with his dad out if the picture and his older Brother Henrik Ingebrigtsen in helping him, he is more likely to stay "hidden" during the race. Which he never did during 1500 meter races before;) On the other hand, he have said himself he wants to be able to win races in all ways. So you never really know what he is thinking, and even dad was coach he never knew that either. It was also one more thing that is important and that is to time when you get down from high altitude. I wont tell it, have to learn Norwegian, but the numbers of days and also there is at a certain point a sequence of days things are uncertain. The olympics 1500 and 5000 wss not able to do both, also it has to match time vice. The amount of days from the first to the last day is crucial. They know exactly what works for them due to trial and error. 🙃 I love sports, and understanding concepts and real reasons why people do well is fun. Most runners dont go of the beaten path and think for them self like Jakob does. 😊 He started when he was 2 years old, and he is a 24/7 athlete that learned from his brothers mistakes. Good luck beating him 🤓
