Watching it in 2021, my eyes see Chen Yibin's execution very differently. Zanetti and Petrounias were incredible champions. Liu this year, too. But for me, Petrounias just is so absolutely incredible with this positions and clear non-cheating holds... Wow.

The 1st gymnast who impressed me in Rings was Dmitri Belozerchev in mid 80s, just by seeing photo of him on rings. I don't remember whether I watched his performance at 1988 Olympic live on TV.

The closest anyone ever got was Zanetti gold and silver 2012 and 2016 and Chen Yibin gold and silver 2008 and 2012. Also no one has ever even made the top 3 more than twice in a row, Zanetti failing to make it now on Tokyo means the only one who can do this is Petrounias 3 years from now.

Albert Azaryan has 2 gold medals on rings and Mitsuo Tsukahara too,Petrounias was about to be the third on this list but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Still happy and impressed from his performance and what this beast has achieved the last 10 years

I do calisthenics but when I get to a very high level on the floor and bars I will go hard with ring training I love it cause Its so challening,fun and beautiful at the same time,I think this ring gymnats are in a superhuman level of strength

Their strength is INSANE!! I've been following gymnastics since 1989. In that time, I feel this apparatus has not evolved/changed in that time compared to all the others. The men have evolved that's obvious, but routines/moves haven't changed much. This and pommel horse are two events that I don't understand as much as the other apparatuses
