@Debbie Cournoyer Butler, it would be more the medical community, they are the ones that have been telling us about the food pyramid, eating less meat, more veg, and even more grains. Now I can't prove that this is happening, but it's possible that the farm industry has been negotiating with the medical community to push their products all along, or maybe government has been pushing it, just a theory. It's not the individuals fault, they are bombarded with information, that has been wrong for years, and we are just now starting to figure out that breads, cereals, and grains, even nuts, are bad for us.

My omega 3 story: In 2008 I started getting some on/off hip pain in my left hip. It soon began in my right hip. I asked my GP about it and he said "let me know when it gets bad enough and we will schedule your hip replacement surgery." The pain gradually got worse til in 2013 it was bad enough that I quit a hike and came home early. I figured it would get debilitating so I wanted to have one more good volcano season first. So I started taking new supplements that would help my strength and stamina. In early 2014 I noticed that my hip pain was gone. I had a great season hiking 260 miles, 75,000 feet & some great volcanos. After volcano season I stopped all my new supplements. My hip pain came back. I started resuming them one at a time to see which cured my hip pain. It was EPA/DHA. I took EPA/DHA for a year. No hip pain. I stopped EPA/DHA. The pain came back. I resumed EPA/DHA. It is now 2024. I am 74 years old and still have no hip pain. I am taking pills that have 500mg of EPA and 250mg of DHA, 4 per day. I have tried several brands. They all work.

Scott E which one is it, lazy & don't care or don't know ? They're not the same. Or can brain hacking and addiction be a factor ? People are still programmed to believe doctors know best and they send patients to dieticians. Is that to avoid a malpractice suit? If you think what big pharma along with doctors) food industry and politicians are doing to make money and screw the health of the people isn't working you had better open your eyes ! It is working. School is teaching the same ! They just increased, admittedly in writing, the increase of grains and fruits and sugars on school menu's !! All 6 of my siblings have post HS education, all 6 are sick addicted to food and all are on meds, all are declining in health in a huge way and they and their doctors aren't changing a darn thing, except more meds. Up to 14 medications in one case. This one being a somewhat healthy athlete in college who was awarded at a national tournament for performance. I was headed same direction as siblings. Its easy to get complacent and fall into a rut. All it takes is a wake up call and the motivation to do something about it. I snapped my Achilles tendon a few weeks ago stepping off a bus and whilst being checked out by my doctor (who I hadn't seen for 5 years) was told that I was border line on a number of risk factors i.e. overweight high blood pressure & glucose etc that she wanted to put me on Statins. That was the spur that I needed to reasses my lifestyle & diet. The biggest shock was discovering that 50 years of medical advice was now being overturned by the Keto diet & that these conditions could easily be reversed by diet. Initially I was sceptical but when I experimented with my first coffee (with butter in it) that tasted delicious that was it; I didn't look backwards. As a result I have shed 10kg in a few weeks and reduced my blood pressure by 10 points (systolic & diastolic); reduced my glucose levels and found a new enthusiasm for taking care of myself by learning more & putting into practice this understanding of essential food diet & exercise.

I have been sick with a 'mystery illness' for almost 5 years now. I have severe joint and tendon pain and inflammation in my hips and pelvis (along with many other symptoms) that has just gotten worse and worse (sometimes I can hardly walk) - and I have tried many things to combat it and heal myself. I have Hashimoto's and also a rheumatologist threw me into the Fibro bucket when he ran a million blood tests and couldn't fit me into any of the other boxes. About two weeks ago, I went back to strict carnivore for the second time and also began alternate day fasting (which I am loving!). I have easily lost 9 pounds and initially, I was SO relieved when I had 4 days in a row where my pain was reduced by about 60%!!! But then, about day 5, my inflammation came right back and is fairly bad again - and I haven't slipped on my eating, etc. at all. Is this a normal response? I certainly don't expect to be 100% better right away, but I fear that my short lived window of relief was just a temporary trick to my body and now that it has figured out what I am doing, it is reverting back into it's attack mode again. My question to you, Dr. Berry, as well as others who are further on their healing journey than I am is: Is there a natural see-saw flow to symptoms as one heals - like two steps forward, one step back? Thank you for all you do! Appreciate you!

High sugars,High omega 6 oils, Processed carbohydrates,high oxalate Vegetables etc 2) Your Supplements: Here I just discovered yesterday that taking Omega 3, DHEA & CQ10 is a must for Unexplainable pains in the body which in most cases could be autoimmune related e g Fibromyalgia,lupus etc. This what is working for me. Dr is more worried about my total cholesterol and LDL than trigs and HDL. Suggested a statin. I shot that right down. Then said fish oil supplement. So I said ok and asked 3 or 6? He had to look up what the prescription kind typically has in it before he could tell me what to get OTC. Won’t be going back to him since he also suggested maybe keto wasn’t a good long term diet. Wish docs would get up to date. 😕

@joykelly4403 жыл бұрын
@@BexnRN No. All the good fats are still good. Butter, bacon grease, beef tallow, olive oil, avocado oil are all good. Dr Berry explains that Omega-3 supplemet oils aren't being mixed with bad fats & oxidize before they are consumed. He also has made the point of eating the WHOLE FOOD, such as salmon with the Omega-3 oils in order to get the benefit of those oils. As with many "supplements." They aren't always as effective when used separated from their source. Eat the salmon. Eat alot of it. It's good for you. Eat the cod. Eat the roe. Eat the ghee. He also talks about the ratios of Omega-3 in ratio with Omega-6. To lessen the inflammatory risks associated with the -6s.

Oil itself is an empty calorie and highly processed food. It's definitely not a whole food. I don't use oils at all in my diet and haven't for close to 20 years. My omega 6 to 3 ratio tends to be very good too. Tonight it was a 2.19 to 1 ratio. Yes I enter my daily food intake into Cronometer so I know my numbers. And having at least 100% omega 3 levels is very important while keeping the overall ratio to the levels recommended in this video. Like 1 to 1 to 4 to 1.

Just watched a video on whole food plant based vs keto with Cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn. He was talking about how Keto has no true to form research to back up long term use. He continues with the fact that saturated fat will cause heart attacks and hardening of the arteries. He insists that we eat a balanced meal of carbs and protein not from meat but from beans lentils etc. and refrain from eating meat and fat all together. Now, I have been on Keto for almost 2 years now and love it, but I am frustrated with all the info that confuses me and others like me. I have had 2 stents place in a 99% blocked artery 1 1/2 years ago and am trying to make the best decisions I can for longevity and good health. I wish there could be a world wide debate on this very topic once and for all and clear the facts from the lies so people can make educated choices. Feeling a little discouraged right now HELP!

Dr. Berry, I respectfully disagree with you on this one subject. High-quality fish oil, 4 grams daily, should be taken, and it should be stored in the freezer. If it doesn't freeze, that's a good sign. No fancy tests are necessary - if it doesn't freeze, it's probably not rancid. I've been taking good quality fish oil for over 50 years, and I'm a 78-year-old male who doesn't wear glasses. I have type one diabetes and use a small amount of insulin (usually 20 to 25 units per day). Once, I bought cheap fish oil from Costco and put it in the freezer, and it froze solid. If this was good fish oil, how do Arctic fish survive? Just my two cents! I do agree that taking 1 gram of poor-quality fish oil per day, what most people do, is probably worthless.
