Dear Sirs, I appreciate the Tresor De Ville- line so much and I intended to purchase one of these. But unfortunately the most of the models show a poor legebility, as the hands are rather thin. With respect to this, please advise, which is the adequat model for me? Thank you in deed for your answer.
@WatchAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
The best and only way to find out is to try them on your wrist and - that is very important - under different light conditions... What I can tell you is ... the readability is not as "bad" as you might think ... by turning the watch a little there is always an angle where you have enough contrast to easily read the time... Once again, please try them on your wrist!
@its_clean3 жыл бұрын
If you're concerned about legibility, look for maximum contrast between hands and dial. In this case you should consider the black dial version. In most conditions the bright reflective hands should give you good contrast against the dark black dial.

Stunning watches - especially the blue and the red. Omega are really killing it with their product development right now. It also makes a huge difference to meet a person or see a face behind the brand. Many thanks Alexander and Gregory for talking us through the new models. Alexander I notice you forgot your watch again for this video. I like the description of the sleeping panda for the sub dial placement. Of the different dial colours the burgundy version is my preferred option (in steel without the diamonds if that is an option in the future) just beating the blue.dial. If only it was produced with the smaller and thinner cal 8800, and cased in 38mm diameter it would be perfect. And another critique is, I know it is built like "thin" modern manual wound watch from omega, but with such flat hands that they used, the watch really appears "flat" (no pun intended), like... meh. If only they could make the handset had facets or some 3d aspect of it. There's a reason why even though the dial of grand seiko are very interesting, the details are still being done in their handsets, very finely. Looking back, even despite the "flat" dial commonly found on vintage Trésor or Deville collection, the hands are still 3d though it's curved following the dial curvature. I hope that they could change that in the future.
@WatchAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
Tastes are different! A 38 mm version would only please a minority of buyers... I don't get the point why these hands should look different! Once again ... tastes are different! For me the hands are perfect... This is a modern/new De Ville Trésor and not a reedition... so allow some changes....

I honestly feel every manually wound watch should have a power reserve somewhere. I never know how long to wind for...
@ianmedium3 жыл бұрын
Its funny as I feel a power reserve on a manual wind if you follow watchmakers advice on such movements is completely useless as a manual wind to maintain peek accuracy should be would fully once every 24 hours and you can´t overwind a manual wind unless you have incredible hulk strength! An automatic on the other hand one never knows how much power is left and in this modern world that has people sitting more and moving their hands less including me I am always annoyed when my watch runs out of power as being an auto one is not meant to wind every day.

@@WatchAdvisor that doesn’t really have anything to do with my point- I don’t want the watch to run out. If it doesn’t have a power reserve, I won’t know when I last wound it, or how long I wound it for. It’s accuracy is a secondary issue...

I was looking in a watch store window in Tulln today and there is a new Citizen that looks remarkably like this or should I say, this looks remarkably like the Citizen as it has been out longer!
@WatchAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
Omega started its Trésor watches in 1949 and was founded in 1848 ... Citizen was founded in 1918, the first watches manufactured with imported Swiss machines (!) were produced in 1924 ... Have you seen all models, designs, styles ever produced? For sure not! Neither Citizen, nor Omega reinvented the wheel! 😉
@ianmedium3 жыл бұрын
@@WatchAdvisor I was talking about this specific new model not the entire historical range, this new model came out after the Citizen Chronograph that has a remarkably similar look. But looking at most of the major brands these days it seems there is very little real design innovation, they just keep rehashing old designs, it’s getting rather boring I feel, it’s hard to tell apart most modern watches these days. I wonder also if Omega is intent on simply bringing back the past then why not get rid of the chintzy looking fake Heute horology look on their movements and go back to what is in my vintage Omegas and still in all Rolexes, a simple but beautifully engineered looking movement, whenever I look at the modern Omegas it feels like I’m looking at Chinese clones of the movements! Sorry to be so negative but it comes from being a dyed in the wool fan of Omega of old and my first expensive watch was a simple manual wind Omega in 1981 that came in a small simple box, not a giant casket like they do now. I find the whole modern mid to high end watch world rather stale these days!
