@jakefeinbergshow what on earth does that have to do with stepping on guests answers? were you just pointing out other examples of when you failed to let guests finish answers? people are giving you valid points that could improve listener experience & you just continue to flaunt the exact attitude people are pointing out. true shame none of the Dead vibe seems to have rubbed off on you. did you ever actually experience the Dead?

The interviewer should let this guy answer the questions. He constantly is interjecting stuff to make it about himself. Loved Brent, did my fair share of Brent Era shows. I loved Brent, loved the Band. These were Halcyon Daze. The 89-90 tour was Brent’s tour deforce.

I love Brent Midland, I grew up listening to him in the Band. My first show was 83, Philadelphia Spectrum, where they sold out more shows than any other venue, 52!!! However, my favorite year was 89, I was at the Oakland Coliseum, I was the guy who got naked on the lot! I left the Earth for about 7 hours. God bless Rock Medix and Bill Graham. But the best show I was ever at, 1989 JFK STADIUM, Philadelphia Pa. hands down, the BEST!!! A magical moment happened while Brent was singing Blow away. 100,000 people had their fist in the air and when he told us to let it go, a Mighty Breeze came by, it was FUCKING AWESOME!!! ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏☮🐸

Interesting how we all have different tastes. Love Brent in 85. 87 is awesome for Brent. The 89-90 well documented. But those two other years in particular are way more interesting than anything he did before that. The early 80s probably the least interesting to me. Of all the Dead’s periods.

You should hear what he does at live shows. Absolutely horrendous hooting, yelling, off key melody attempts that have nothing to do with the music, and the most bizarre extended groaning you’ll ever hear. All of it louder than the actual music. Worse than the worst guy screaming ‘Jerrrrryyy’ during Stella Blue

His life did depend on it ! He was a drinker + broke the lights out in the hallways of the hotel we were staying at but got kicked out but went to a bigger hotel that was better anyway ! But I went into his room with Bobby + my niece to c him but I told him he had enough to drink so he took a full bottle of rum + threw it up to the ceiling + glass went everywhere so I picked up all I could then Bobby asked how r we going out of here without cutting our feet ? I said just close ur eyes + don’t think about it ! So we got out , no cuts on our feet + Bobby said how did we do this ? We floated out of there ! He believed me ! 🩷🐇🐰🌹☠️💀⚡️🕊️💥👻🥰😘

I really enjoyed this. I am pretty sure the Dead was set up as a partnership, not a corporation. Just like a law firm. You have partners and associates. Associates are like hired hands. Brent was a hired hand in the early years. At some point, probably during the In The Dark era or just after, he became a full partner as Matt alluded to. The other full partners would have been the other five members plus Hunter.

I saw my first dead show Greensboro 89 spring tour ....i never went on tour with them because i always had to work...i went to 23 shows and 2 Jerry Band ...best show i attended Carter Finley 90 ....July 10th...my birthday...it was so hot...the show and the weather...people without tickets rushed the fences and the lightning shut down the power while they were into Promised Land ...Brent picked up his synthesizer and slamed it down...believing they pulled the power because of the rowdy fans ...man when the power was restored the band started right where they left off ...in the middle of Promise Land ....on the note ...amazing....a little earlier in the show ...i and others were praying for rain to cool off ...and the Dead went into ...Wind and the Rain...storm clouds gathered over us and poured...the steam went up and away...of course i was high ...they encoured with Brokedown....and it truly was ...amazing...tears of joy...i believe he died after that tour...i was cooking in a obcure Cajun restaurant in Columbia S.C. and Sidney Poitier was at this place...Cajun Cafe ...we had a radio sitting above fryers on a shelf ...i dropped Sidneys chicken and as the hissing of oil increased...i heard only...."of the Grateful Dead has died"...i immediately walked out and cried...went home...i assumed it was Jerry...but found out it was Brent...i got fired...oh well....Dear Mr. FANTASY...RIP

@@davedillon1372 l told him what I thought was good advice, dive deeper. I can understand cutting it at Brent's death. Even cutting it after the coma, because it was never quite the same and the song selection began to get a little dodgy. I love 69, 72-75, 79-90 and 77 of course. I can take or leave other years. Mostly for tempo or song choice reasons. Lots of cool stuff in 68 but it is almost always the same setlist just mixed around.
