It's important to have some level of independence when it comes to diabetes. Independence from the pharmaceutical industry, doctors, insurance, etc. Of course we need insulin, but how long can you go without needing more? Important considerations like this and more.

Wow…This video blew me away because I’ve been worrying and it’s as though your video was speaking to me. During the summer, I lost my ssi and medical benefits, and have been doing everything possible to reapply, trying to get my medicals so that I can get the insulin I cannot afford. I watched your other video quite a while ago that you mentioned here, of ways to stock up…very clever and very wise. I listened to your wise wisdom and am sure glad I did. Although my doctor did not prescribe Regular or Nph, I got a supply from Walmart as you suggested. I also have a good supply of my prescribed insulin, thanks to you. Very smart of you! You are SO RIGHT in everything you say here. ALL of your videos are extremely wise and helpful. Thank you soooo much, Justin. Bless your heart. You’re an angel and I am so grateful to you for sharing your wisdom with us. You’re a God send. Thank you so much!

You're a fantastic resource and I appreciate your perspective! It's all about GREED, MONEY, AND IF YOU'RE GLUCOSE IS HIGH, CRICKETS... Here in the US, the Healthcare System is broken, and they don't give a damn about anyone!

Great info as usual, Justin! My grandmother taught me to always have extra medicine on hand because you never know when you will need it. So when I have dental work done, I ask for a pain prescription even if I don't need it. Same with any medical procedure. Also, if you can travel to Mexico, you can buy most medications there at corner pharmacies to bring back home. These Mexican pharmacies will usually have a doctor on hand or nearby to prescribe anything you tell them you need at a much lower price than what is sold in the USA. It's all perfectly legal and it's one of the reasons (along with free universal healthcare) so many American's & European's are moving/retiring to Mexico. Along with low crime rates, low housing rents, and low food and utilities costs. I'll be moving there myself in a few years since America has become a shooting range and we have no universal healthcare unlike every other major industrialized country. We pay all these taxes, yet no free healthcare? F that! Mexico here I come. Happy Holidays everyone!

I do the same. I tell the doctor that I take way more insulin than I actually do so I can stockpile some up. I find it humiliating having to beg a doctor for insulin like that. Pretty please can I exist? I've never had a insulin pump or a continuous glucose monitor. When you don't eat candy for every meal like most people do you really don't need stuff like that.

An insulin pump and CGMS help keep diabetics' blood sugars under control. You can survive without them. But using them makes living much easier and helps you maintain much better, tighter control.

@@russellseaton2014 No doubt about it, but so does not eating candy for every meal like the medical community seems to recommend. I'm just a fan of not looking like a cyborg wearing all the expensive equipment they've come up with, but to each his own if that's what works for you.

@@russellseaton2014lo q mejor ayuda al control es comer comida real , comes carbohidratos a monton y puedes tener lo último en tecnología que jamás te podrás comparar con alguien que no consume Carbohidratos

I dont have cgm/pump, but not having access to test strips would be horrible. I cant even image how could you manage this disease without knowing what you manage. Insulin i dont think will have supply issues, its made in developed countries, but things like pen needles come from asia.

I get test strips off of ebay. I use the true metrix meter and you can get 600 strips for around $100. It isn't the greatest meter (as far as being accurate), but it gets the job done. I've noticed a lot of meters are terrible on accuracy.

@@twn5858 way I see it, the more the merrier. I'd rather test 3 times with bad strips than only test once with better but 3x more expensive strips. I get the premier reli-on ones from walmart, about 20 for 100. What you found is a good deal!
