No matter the research I have put into this issue of music, there will always be those who will respond to me with that same verse and hadeeth as evidence to "refute" me as if I don't know them and tell me to stop following my desires. Ironically, I rarely listen to music and most of my free time is watching Islamic videos. Also, I'm pretty sure Ibn Mas'ood is reported to have said Ghinaa' (singing) as an interpretation to Lahwu-l-Hadeeth. If this is true then this does not include musical instruments, but a melodious voice, which 100% agrees with the Hadeeth (speech) in Lahwu-l-Hadeeth, and is in agreement with one reason for relevation of the verse which was that a man bought singing girls to distract from the path of Allah and from listening to the Quran. Also, Ibn Mas'ood didn't say halal or haram but just mentioned it in the context of the verse.
