If we are totally honest with ourselves, then the way he explains it, it really is like that. If I think about why my wife is really with me or why I am with her, it is truly out of necessity. We fool ourselves and fool each other into thinking and believing that the other is with the other because they love them. In my 8 years of marriage I can truly say that it is based upon necessity. We do not pick our partners based on how much we love them but rather how many things we can achieve from the relationship.

It's hard to disagree the way he explains it so simply. Humans have built this huge edifice around relationships which are ultimately about sex for procreation and the optimal arrangement of co-existing to share responsibility in raising the child. But we've evolved all of that into fantasies about soul mates and knights in shining armor saving princesses. It's nutty. But most of us get caught up in it. We're born into this minefield of propaganda that starts seeping into us from day 1. Movies, TV shows, books, all pushing these high ideals about "true love". And we get hopelessly attached to the notion that that is the purpose of our lives - to find THE ONE. That's my experience anyway. It's such a struggle to overcome the level of conditioning around something like that.

Just two people using one another and when the two separate - the two will find the next person to use and everybody knows this!

Not many know this to be true. People are not able to be honest. They lie and fool themselves.
@michaelchaplin8662 ай бұрын
Most don't know this because they can't handle the truth, so they disguise it for themselves. However, it is exactly as you say.

Yeah, she meant she appreciates brutal honesty. People aren't honest, because they seek validation from who they are answering. It's not nice to be around someone like this. Just telling you what you want to hear all of the time and you know they are lying.

The idea of a committed relationship have never sat well with me. I have been in 4 relationships and they were nice, but to be single has always meant more to me. My next relationship, I'd prefer to go into it like a business transaction more than something based on feelings and emotions. My feelings, emotions, and heart energy; I prefer to use that into my arts and crafts.

@1:02 - clear indication of projection of one's idea into a framework of existing knowledge, UG categorically states he cannot be fitted into that framework of the 'not-existent' honesty @2:50 - Another example of projection of one's own thoughts onto the observed events. During my younger days, I felt that society fitting me into its framework will cheapen my being - a feeling of invincibility and non-affiliation used to be there. These days, sadly, looking for validation from society has become more important, it seems

We come alone and walk alone! He is true - but it is all about how you tune your perspective on that - we can debate all null but we can also debate it all full! But we need to understand the detachment part in it. Otherwise did not get much in this video

His other findings about life are equally straight forward and punching which implies that his failed marriage has nothing to do with his statement.

Failed or unfailed. Doesn't matter. All relationships function this way. People are not in a relationship for the other person. Never! The whole point of why people seek out and enter into any relationship with anyone is for them to benefit in some way. If they acquire no benefit, or after a time that benefit fades away, then the relationship has no use to them and they will not remain in it. There are always conditions brought upon any form of relationship and will try, perhaps unknowingly or knowingly, to manipulate, deceive or trick to gain the upper hand. You only really need to be honest about it to see this is true. People just aren't able to be honest. They hide behind false ideologies like Love and marriage and will always self-justify so they never end up seeing the truth about it all. And they will enter another relationship and the CIRCLE continues. We select, based on requirements, our friends, lovers, partners and all other relationships apart from parent and child ones, to give us something we cant aquire on our own. And so what we call "compromises" are made so that both parties benefit in some way. If this is tipped towards one side too much out of balance, the breakdown of the relationship begins. And sadly, people try to manipulate to get what they want. This you can see in young children.
