To be fair though, the healthcare system in China is absolute horseshit. They'll write you up for antibiotics every chance they get just so they can make money off commission. If you're dying and dont got the money, nobody will save you. They completely disregard the sacred oath This has happened several times already. For example, a man carried his sick child on his back for 40km to the nearest hospital hoping to save his life. He was turned away at the hospital because he couldn't pay up. And his child died right there in front of him. What this guy is saying holds a lot of truth in regards to the healthcare in China. It's downright inhumane.

Well, I do not remember what we said (I'm not sure, but I think it was something to the effect of "Just imagine the problem you're going to cause if you don't go and then die", but don't remember it), but eventually he went to the doctor who later said that if he had taken any longer, he would've died. Worst thing is, my grandma, I think my mom once too, and even I have done similar things (though thankfully, in my case it really turned out to not be as serious as it could've been, which was really lucky on my side).

As an indian, this is relatable. Our parents wanted us to be doctors. And not even any medical professional like a nurse or lab technician or a pharmacist, but a proper medical doctor. If we didn't make it to medical school then it's engineering of course.

There's a reason why Asian parents don't go to see a doctor. Money. In the US, the medical bills are crazy expensive, and Asian parents know that. They want to save that money for their children.

It’s so true that it really hurts. My sister’s son just became a doctor because he grew up hearing his mom saying the same things over and over. Powerful brainwashing

Lol, my husband is Asian. We weren’t able to have kids but if we did, yes, I wanted them to be doctors. 😂 My husband is a first generation immigrant and it’s nearly impossible to get him to go to a doctor. Funny and true. 🙌🏻

Great-great grandfather was from Poland. He and his wife had 7 kids. Four became doctors, three became nurses. They totally bought the "becoming a doctor is the quickest way to turn this around."

Yeah my father wanted me to become a doctor too. But I just couldn't withstand biology and hated that subject and had a huge fight with him. He felt highly disappointed but now I just have to prove him that I can succeed in the path I chose for myself in which I'm interested in except the doctor one.

My Cuban grandma was exactly like this: Never wanted to go to the doctor herself, but really wanted my dad, and then me, to be doctors. I remember overhearing this conversation (roughly translated): "My son, it's not too late. You could still go to medical school in Salamanca." "Mom, I'm fifty-two. Yes it is!" This was particularly funny for me, because I was a huge hypochondriac as a kid; I didn't want to be anywhere near a sick person! Still, she got some consolation that we both got to be CALLED "Doctor" - we got PhDs instead.

Even the asians back in Asia obsess over their kids being doctors. And I can honestly agree it ismt because they want us to "help people".

It's about money and fame from the start. It's also the reason why these parents are forcing their kids into afterschool lessons, playing an instrument, and a whole horde of other junk. They just want to brag about how much better their son/daughter is compared to their peers. And quite honestly, even though the CCP made an exceptionally controversial decision limiting parents' ability to send their kids to afterschool lessons, I am actually in full support of it. The parents are putting too much pressure on the kids and making their lives incredibly toxic.
