They wouldn’t be hurting for people as much if they took out the Polygraph portion of the hiring process. I was super excited and stoked about joining CBP and continue serving after the military, only to be told I failed the major crimes portion (clean record by the way, not even a speeding ticket) of the polygraph. It really sucks, I get it’s part of the process but it truly does suck. Polygraphs aren’t even admissible in court, I don’t understand why this is part of the hiring process which probably disqualifies highly qualified individuals. I was former Security Forces in the Air Force and have an Associates in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors in Homeland Security, and I was also a military contractor in Afghanistan for a year. I know I’m qualified and capable of contributing my part to an agency such as CBP, Border Patrol or any other law enforcement agency. I hope things change in the future for individuals who want to continue serving our country in a different capacity other than the military, yet a polygraph stands in the way of many doing so. SMH, either way huge respect to those Border Patrol Agents. Keep up the good work!

Unfortunate to hear this, I had a friend former Air Force, fail the polygraph (also clean record), only to pass a polygraph for a state LE department and go with them instead. It would make more sense if the polygraph was used more as a cumulative part of the process and maybe go to the board if someone fails.

When did you go through the process? I see we have a similar background except I was a paralegal in the JAG, not Security Forces. Ended up applying to some state and city LE agencies and passed their polys which basically asked the same line of questions as the CBP one. That is one pseudo-science contraption I don't believe in...

Where our focus should be! Let’s secure our own borders before Ukraine ($40 billion!!!) or the Baltics.
@chrisburke6242 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 98% of the way - but right now, Ukraine is most deserving of every penny of that aid. They are deep into a fight they are having on behalf of all of us in the west, and the stakes are high as hell. (Not just militarily, but a real strategic threat to half the world’s grain supply)
@americanwatchdog28132 жыл бұрын
@@chrisburke624 I hear you, but on the same note does Ukraine have a chance of winning? The mainstream media seems to want us to think so… I personally believe Russia, just like most of the conflicts in their history, is in this for the long haul, and will be victorious. As far as the grain goes, I would support General Cavoli’s indirect proposal in his senate hearing to go after that. They are certainly trying to get us to think this is America’s war. After Covid and the Afghan pullout I am selling on that idea - focus our energy on America.
@americanwatchdog28132 жыл бұрын
@@chrisburke624 Also - inside source here - only 15 of the 40 billion actually made it to Ukraine. The rest was primarily sent to defense contractors and third parties.
@chrisburke6242 жыл бұрын
@@americanwatchdog2813 I totally agree with you. America has problems, some of them seeming silly to the rest of the world - but the world needs America, and the conflict in Ukraine is a hard hitting, blunt reminder of that. So focusing energy and effort on fixing America's problems is long overdue, I feel. Does Ukraine stand a chance of winning? I genuinely believe they do... Although it won't be as simple as the Ukrainians beating the Russians, But more so the Russians beating the Russians. Regardless of their censor controls and propaganda, A lot of Russians have access to the internet & VPN, And are well aware that the rest of the world is not full of nazis. There is no patriotic calling for this war. Economically it is causing massive disruptions, And those disruptions result in unhappy people. Enough unhappy people means real problems for any government... They can't even build tanks or fighter planes now due to sanctions. It's hard to import much and it's becoming even harder to export... Again the citizens will eventually have enough. If one looks at some non open source data about the current state of the Russian military, I think it will take them the better part of a decade just to build-up to where they were before the conflict. Short answer? Yes I think Ukraine can win
@americanwatchdog28132 жыл бұрын
@@chrisburke624 Good points all around. To me though our conversation here makes it clear it is no guarantee Ukraine “wins” by any stretch. Should we, America, be treating this potentially losing conflict like our war? Regardless of the outcomes, how have our limited wars gone previously? Maybe most important is the point that the American people don’t really want to be involved in conflicts like this. Washington DC obviously does, but what about American citizens? To an increasing amount of citizens our foreign policy is an absolute joke.
