Some police jurisdictions in the country have policies that limit or refuse to enforce immigration laws. The county i live in is a sanctuary jurisdiction, the police chief welcomes anyone to live here regardless of their immigration status.

I’m just wondering if the people crossing the border from Canada into the US are aware of the agreement between the two countries? Essentially making any claim for asylum automatically rejected because Canada is a 1) a safe country and 2) if a person lands in either of the countries, then other will automatically deport to the country of arrival. Anyone ever heard of cases of those that came from Canada and were granted asylum in the US?

As a Canadian. I know our country takes in millions of immigrants. I always thought that immigrants really didn’t want to live in Canada, it just was easier to get here. They inevitably would want to go to the USA. Some stay here, but alot want to go to the States. We have a huge border, compared to the US , Mexico border!
