Even though they seem to emphasize conditioning less PSU always produces excellent 3rd period wrestlers.
@alecshunnarah90403 жыл бұрын
They definitely emphasize conditioning, but they don’t absolutely wear their bodies out. They go hard during drilling and live wrestling, then rest and recover.
@aaronreeder5753 Жыл бұрын
I think it is more that they emphasize conditioning off the mat. So on the mat they are strictly working on technique which you can execute better if you aren't dog tired. But they obviously do conditioning at some point. You cannot be a champion without being in the absolute best shape.

Is there a Ruth, a Taylor, a Zain, a Nolf, or a Nickal in that bunch? That has been Penn State’s biggest advantage. The aforementioned guys didn’t just win; they had bonus points in almost every match. I think Hall will at least be a four-time finalist and maybe a two-time national champion. That’s basically the same resume as Taylor. But we all know Taylor’s standing is much higher than Hall’s and will always be.

If you want to train and work hard 3 months out of the year, well, then, Penn State is a great place to go. If you want to bust your tail 6 months out of the year, you should be very happy at Northern Iowa.. If you want to work hard for 9 months, go to Iowa State. *But if you want to train like a warrior, develop into a champion and work 12 months out of the year. Then Iowa is the place for you*

@@AnimeHumanCoherence exactly thats why you see alot penn state guys have longevity and win national titles its mental only spencer lee won a national title eierman and kemerer lost I think a huge difference is mindset with Penn state they're relaxed and believe that they'll wrestle their best they're not afraid or amped up they just believe they're the best so they have fun and wrestle because they know deep down they got it but Iowa is super intense which in the long hall can wear on you mentally especially in OT if you're in a match with a mindset of grind and destruction when you wrestle someone that just knows deep down ok I'm gonna wrestle my best and see what happens more times then not the person with personal belief in themselves wins

Weird that training “ hard 3 months out of the year” during the Sanderson era has earned Penn State a total of 8 team national titles. Those champions over at Iowa have 2. If we count full seasons with Sanderson as head coach the number is actually 8>1. As far as individual wrestling goes let’s check facts, since 2011 the Penn State program has produced 27 total individual National Championship wins including 4 at this year’s NCAA Finals. How many individual titles have the Iowa athletes brought home since 2011? If we are discussing current coaching and program merit. Instead of riding the coattails of former program glory. Coach Sanderson and his Nittany Lions wipe the floor with Tom and Terry’s Iowa Pigeons. That is a fact.

@LJ you sound like a guy trying to convince himrself that fairy tales are true. The one year that Iowa actually won the NCAA's since Cael came to Penn State, the Nits had 4 national champs. They totally stole Iowa's thunder. Let's use statistics. Since Cael Sanderson became head coach at PSU, the Lions have a record of, I believe, 45 - 4 in NCAA semi-final bouts. How did Iowa do in the same time period? In the last 2 NCAA's, the Nits are 10-0 in semi's, and sadly only 8-2 in finals. How'd Iowa do?
@landrewesor69833 жыл бұрын
Iowa Hawkeye wrestling is unique. No teams have a fan base quite as passionate, *sell out an arena as often and have the cult following as intense as this legendary wrestling program does year after year* The fans in Iowa view Hawkeye wrestlers as superhuman. You won't see this in any other program. In Iowa there's no professional teams. Its Iowa wrestling and the rest is irrelevant. The Black and Gold faithful know wrestling.
