Yes and.... some men experience much more shame than just the "don't look weak" thing. Some of us have experienced traumatic body shaming. Some of us had narcissistic parents who instilled shame in us about, well, everything. Compassion Compassion Compassion Compassion Compassion

I love her, she is so inspiring. Especially i liked the part when she speaks about a man and a woman having done their work and in hard moments allowing their partner to be vulnerable and express their true feelings. It's vital for healthy dynamics in relationships.

I used to think being vulnerable was scary and I still do. But these days now working in the corporate offices, being simply authentic is brave. What I mean by authentic is showing your real self and not always performing.
@StormHeflin
@StormHeflin 4 жыл бұрын
I can relate to that. I feel like I'm brave for being myself at work. And then I feel shame for that realness because I realize the way corporate puppetry would rather have it. I will not falter though because people seem to like the bravery and I haven't been fired yet.

Vulnerability is what it means to be human. We are taught not to be vulnerable bc that's a sign of weakness. But no, it turns out that to be unafraid of vulnerability is actually our greatest strength. Thank you Brene'! 💪💕

@Rene Brown merci merci merci. Your message is heard. I am learning so much even now at 57 and it feels great. Is it what life is about?! I am giving a link to my children so they can hear this and use it at the beginning of their adult journey. We talked and still do but your words resonnate so well in my heart and soul. You are a great teacher, master of vulnerability 💜

It’s really hurtful to put yourself out there! And sometimes is not worth it at all! It’s just shaming and pointing fingers at you. It’s hard to behave yourself at this situations. It’s devastating to be hurt all the time than sometimes you wish you can’t feel a thing!

What i resonated with what that loving and belonging No matter what situations, conditions etc, is the primärt target an abuser has. As soon as they notice a flick of vulnerability u are straight target. They see u as weak literally and someone to be taken advantage of because u have asked for it pretty much. So No matter how loving, kind, vulnerable, sensitiva and 💯% right u are u Will Always be att fault and stuck in the mix aka trap of an abuser.

It's crazy synchronistic how she actually sounds like Cameron Diaz who played the princess in Shrek. I still remember how affected I was by that scene in Shrek. I felt that it really captured just how lonely Shrek was. And just how difficult it was for him to open up to idea that he might be loved. He did it all. He defeated the dragon and rescued the princess. And yet what kept him from what mattered most was his own worthiness. On behalf of all men I would like say that the possibly that a woman would understand that feeling is pricless. That we are lonely and that we truly do want connection but we don't know how to feel worthy of it. But slowly we make our way there and that your patience is greatly appreciated.

Someone quoted Romans 5:4 but didn't bother to share it. Romans 5:3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: and hope doesn't disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 5:6 For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Kinda off cuff BUT as a guy, honestly i feel like this is why we have cross culturally been the ones to invest the most into "the world's oldest profession" (if you catch my drift) In essence, upon my own healing and reflection it really ISN'T about the sex. It's just about the fact, which is honestly really sad when you really get the implications, that for guys that go that route it's just that an escort/prostitute/stripper or really even "the other woman" is the only woman in his life that he feels comfortable enough around to actually just open up and be completely vulnerable. I've never done it myself but I'd be lying if i said that the thought hadn't crossed my mind that I'd be willing to pay just to be able to cry in a woman's lap or that if anyone would seriously just listen or be there that would be all i need

When she mentions therapy
@ChristianOne
@ChristianOne 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think she did explain. I think of vulnerability as EXTREME HONESTY with yourself and others you trust to be kind listeners. So you didn't have to really learn HOW to "do it"... it's just the courage to unveil the layers and emotions until you're down to the naked, bare, raw emotions and truth. I sometimes get there by asking myself WHY over and over until I get past my own defenses to the real truth. For example: I want to buy a new shirt. Why? I want to look better Why? Because I am afraid my husband will look elsewhere if I don't. Why? Because he told me he likes me to stay thin and look feminine. Why? Probably because he's scared I'll get fat and expect him to stay attracted anyway. Why? Because I tend to overeat when I'm stressed. Why? Because I'm worried what he/others think of me and food pushes that feeling down. Why? Because I'm deriving my worth from whether he stays with me instead of working on my own self-acceptance and growth. So the truth really is, I want to take better care of my health for my own well-being a new shirt can be a reward to myself for maintaining my exercise plan for a month. Then maybe asking my husband to share his real reasons or fears behind why he asked me to keep up my appearance.

I think u cant count a person, especially in My case when it came to selfworth, that the exhaustion, perfektionism, judgement etc would have easily been taken away if i wasnt being supressed or heavily opressed alredy, i Belize that People with a high Sense of selfworth becole Essy targeted for People to fick with aswell cuz they need a stronger person to chop down, its super common in narssisstic abuser that these People see it as a thrill under the Chase and empowerment after they suceed so they self gratifythemselfs by the hurts caused in the One with a high selfworth. .. and thats even scarier to me. A person may need that merly to survive the odds.
@bluenikayahjihbed965
@bluenikayahjihbed965 3 жыл бұрын
It gets scarier when narsissits continue this cycle of selfgratification because it van really less to some horrific things done by them in the community, thats how they destroy lives by gossiping as an example, it turns to heavier crimes as sening other People in them Calles Flyinge Monkeys and eventually it van turn to kurser due to everything thats going on so its really a downward, selfgratifying spiral of viciousness against who ever the target may be, in this case the person with a high Sense of selfworth.
@bluenikayahjihbed965
@bluenikayahjihbed965 3 жыл бұрын
They dont really have that to when tonstop or when they are hurting another and thats whats so horrific about it.
@bluenikayahjihbed965

And obviously the more there is pressure in the target the One with the high Sense of selfworth, if the pressure becomes overwhelming what DO u think Will happen? They Will crumble. Thats what they do to them once again put shame, gulit blame and then further set the person Up.

I think you just want to talk about vulnerability. Why don't you try giving away all of your possessions, sleeping on the sidewalk and holding a sign on the corner, asking for help. This is asceticism and mendicancy. This is what the Buddha practiced. You people in your high towers want to talk about vulnerability but you don't want to experience it. This is the definition of narcissism. Soft totalitarianism is the addiction to comfort and safety. The truth is that you hate freedom and vulnerability, and this is why you hate the homeless.
