To add to the outstanding flame thrower reveal at the end, we briefly see it in the shed when Cliff goes to get his tools before heading up to the roof to fix the antenna. Details, baby!

Wes out did himself in this intro! I love these. This is the main reason that I tune in -- that and the great conversation between two friends and their sound engineer. Thank you so much for the weekly show!

The confrontation between The Family & both Pitt & Decaprio was so OTT but so cathartic

I love when Wes asks for something to be edited it out and it isn't. Makes me laugh every time.

I wonder if the opening of the new Amazon MGM Pinewood studio will have any effect on a possible Expanse return.

I swear that was the fastest 2 hours I've ever experienced of parts one and two. I could listen to them for a lot longer.

In the discussion of the Lancer scene, another genius function of that long section of the episode is to highlight (to audience members who might not realise) what a huge deal it is for Rick to eff up his lines and ask for a cut.

You know what would have been really cool? Is a shot of Cliff’s POV of the Manson’s while he was high AF on acid, like a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas moment.

So drive-ins had the little car speakers; sound would not have been a problem unless the people were noisy, and they would kick you out in the hey day of Drive ins if you were. Although everyone still has to drive in and out, so engine noise... Things got more feral at Drive ins in the 80's though.

I was in LA as a very young man (in the music Bizz) a few short weeks after the Manson murders. It was on everyone's minds & lips. There was a lot of Paranoia over it. Very strange time.

Agree about Gangs of New York. Favorite Pitt performance is still 12 Monkeys but this is second and they are such different stages of his life and career it's hard to put them in the same category. Feel the same about DiCaprio in Gilbert Grape but even more so. I knew the Charlie Manson/Murders as terrifying news when I was preteen, but in my household the focus was more on crazy satanic cults than hippies. Listening to Ty today I suddenly realized why my Dad was so freaked when I dropped out of college and ran off with the hippies a few years later. I definitely should have dropped them a postcard more often than I did.

Thanks to you guys I'm giving this movie another chance. I saw it just once in Boston during holidays, and as a non-american, I confess that I went with this anxiety that things might go wrong in the cinema, right up until that glorious and over-the-top cathartic ending. So, I wasn't in a good place to start with, my gf didn't like the movie, and to be honest, I think I didn't like it as I normally do a Tarantino. I didn't understand it, and I didn't care about the murders, this era of the film industry as well. Anyway, now I'm enjoying it more for what it is thanks to your insights and convo. And Leo's acting is top notch. So is Wes' at the beginning of this video.

forget the beer holster, get a beerdolier. the 6 pack on the front is easy, the ones on the back are more of challenge to reach.

Are you saying I can strap a full 12 pack to my waste? I never knew about this, what have been doing with my life?

@@coreydull6945 Not the waste. I was riffing on a bandolier (think Chewbacca or Overkill), so shoulder to hip. Works better for tall people. the belt would work better after years of drinking from the Beerdolier 8^)

I think Cliff was in WWII, not in Korea. It's easy to forget that Pitt is in his fifties here, which means he would be around fourty during Korea and in his thirties during WWII. They also called him a "war-hero", which again feels more likely in a war of defeating Hitler, rather than a forgotten war in Asia. Sure, he could have been in both. But if not, my money is on WWII.

I know this has nothing to do with the episode, but what do you guys think of Battlestar Galactica, bot the original and the reboot. If you have not watched it, I can only recommend it especially the reboot.

I love the legends that may or may not be true about DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. The story that I love to believe is true is that after Harvey Weinstein tried to get Gwenythe Paltrow to give him a nude massage, she returned home and Brad saw that she was distraught and asked her what was wrong. After he was told what had transpired, he marched over to Harvey's penthouse and the minute he saw Harvey grabbed him by the neck, feet dangling off the floor, slammed him into the wall and said, "if you ever try that again, I will end you." That story makes the Cliff Booth character more realistic and possible.and believable to me and adds to the enjoyment. The DiCaprio story that I love is that in Django Unchained, DiCaprio was so into the scene where he is smashing a skull with his hand, one of the shards cut open his and and he is bleeding that they continue to film. DiCaprio smears the blood on Kerry Washington's face and has this look of shear revulsion -- because she knew that was really DiCaprio's blood being smeared on her face!

The part at the end shows where there are really two different justice systems. Because Rick Dalton is a movie star, the police don’t even raise an eyebrow that he used a flamethrower on another person. No problemo 😂
