Seven party leaders and representatives took the stage for ITV's second General Election debate on Thursday evening, addressing issues such as taxes, immigration, and the cost of living. On stage were Penny Mordaunt from the Conservatives, Angela Rayner from Labour, Stephen Flynn from the SNP, Daisy Cooper from the Liberal Democrats, Rhun ap Iorwerth from Plaid Cymru, Carla Denyer from the Green Party, and Nigel Farage from Reform UK. The debate was moderated by Julie Etchingham of ITV News, who asked questions on key topics selected by the public ahead of the event. Report by Matthew Covell.

A sensible comment but sadly migration has gone from being a debate about the benefits and complications to a topic of religeous zealotry. Do we want some migrants...of course...Do we have to pretend that a one way revolving door with every man and his dog are allowed to turn up here without any planning.....bad bad policy. The fact that the left have turned migration into an extreme topic with their open door policies is always going to push sensible people from the centre further to the right to counter act it. You can see it from the greens, labour, tories, SNP, ok some of them said it needs to come down but they can't go as far as farage because then they have to come to terms with reality that the last 20 years has been a complete failure of policy on their part, they can't admit it.

Perhaps the *_benefits_* of _not_ working must be reduced first. The welfare state was never intended to be permanent lifestyle, and was supposed to provide the bare minimum to keep people alive. Now it buys fags and booze, Sub TV and other luxuries.

They got rid of the NHS bursary, people stopped studying nursing and other health degrees such as radiography, they removed it so a lot less people did it creating a shortage, brought in less skilled people from places like India that I had to work with in NHS, no real incentives to stay left to Canada early this year good riddance, Tories don't value the British workforce, they work hand in hand to make the people that own universities a LOT of money

Heres a few. He said that Barack Obama had enacted extreme vetting on immigration during his presidency. He didn't. Obama did review the vetting procedures applied to citizens of a single country (Iraq) and then only to refugees and applicants for Special Immigrant Visas, unlike Trump who has ordered a ban on people from seven countries with a population of more than 130million, including tourists and business travellers. Farage also said Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain refused to take a single refugee or displaced person from Syria, when in fact there are actually 2-3million Syrians in the Gulf countries, many of whom arrived when the war began and are no therefore included in UNHCR statistics. The Saudi government has, since the conflict began in 2011, hosted 2.5million refugees and has given permanent residency to hundreds of thousands of Syrians. In a speech, Farage accused the European Commission of being the sole arbiter of legislation in the European Union. In reality the Commission takes it priorities from elected member state governments (the Council) and performs a role more akin to the British civil service. The third institution, the European Parliament, is made up of directly elected MEPs. Farage should know this by now, he's been one for over 10 years. He claims that 70% of the laws in the UK are made by the EU. The real number is difficult to quantify, but the independent House of Commons library put it at just 13.2%. The EU does not cost £55 million every day, as Farage has repeatedly said.. This is double the real number and does not account for the benefits we get back. And before you ask, no, £350million extra a week will not be given to the NHS when we leave. Nigel Farage and every other leading figure who backed leave distanced themselves the morning after the vote.

Migration should be controlled - I don't think any reasonable person would dispute this. The problem with thinking Brexit was a solution was 1) Non-EU migration was always higher 2) UK never implemented any of the immigration controls of EU migrants that it was allowed to under EU law. Brexit was a false solution because it was premised on the wrong causes. And we are seeing the outcome of that - record numbers of migrants.

Well in my experience some of the student nurses coming through are dangerous due to lack of experience, lack of medication knowledge/side effects/dosages. Nigel Farage's views on immigration are absolutely spot-on. As someone from the Middle East, I see how hard it is for Muslims to integrate into British/Western society. Muslim culture and British culture are worlds apart. Integration is impossible, especially when we are talking about mass immigration! Muslims also have deep attachment to their faith which often clashes with the UK secular, liberal values, causing constant tension and difficulties in assimilation to western societies. Additionally, there is a lot of distrust and even hatred towards non-Muslims in almost all Muslim communities, making a cohesive society impossible. Many Muslims hold views that don't align with Western values, especially on LGBTQ+ rights and freedom of expression. + asylum seekers also exploit the UK's welfare system and freedoms, attacking British values and using the UK's generosity to criticize both their former and current societies. Honesty, the Rwanda bill is a great way to handle this burden. The UK should also consider sending asylum seekers to places like Comoros and Uzbekistan, which share their values. it's time to face facts: mass immigration of Muslims into the UK isn't sustainable, and those who oppose this view are ignoring reality and probably don't know Muslims very well.

Regardless of political party, many in the UK have lost faith that the government and the civil service will stop the uncontrolled legal migration - note that is legal, the side of migration that we most have control over. The effects of uncontrolled migration are seen in: - increase of people on benefits. See the government's data of unemployment by ethnicity - despite the image fed to us, white British have the lowest unemployment rate compared to all other ethnicities. - artificially lowering the minimum wage due to an abundance of cheap imported labour. We have parts of the indigenous population that rely heavily on low paid low skilled jobs, and they are having to compete with people who are used to earning below the poverty level of Africa, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East etc - increase in house prices and rental prices - which also impacts the birth rate of the indigenous population, as they will avoid having children if they can't afford them. - more building on our protected Green Belt land due to the housing pressure - more building on existing buildings and causing social tension as people live cheek by jowl. Legislation has been relaxed to encourage this in-building. The UK already has some of the smallest homes, compared to Europe. - increase in violence and crime. There is a general increase, plus some which is specific to certain ethnicities. Knife (and machete) crime is more frequent, however whilst it captures the headlines, many other forms of crime, not typical to the indigenous population are flourishing. The Asian (Indian subcontinent) grooming gangs rap_ing/assaulting/drugging white children. - increased demand for extra policing, in the tens of thousands (look at the different police force's online wanted posters, there is a disproportionately higher number of foreign criminals, especially as a proportion of the population) - increased demand for prison officers, and prison buildings (look at the prison population, where there is again a disproportionately higher number of foreign criminals, especially as a proportion of the population). We are already releasing criminals early, and not imprisoning others, due to a lack of prison places! And the increase in taxes to pay for these. - increased demand on the judiciary. Our courts are blocked with massive queues, and everything is done to delay cases going to the CPS or going to court. We have a lack of staff and buildings. Very serious cases are rarely reaching the CPS or courts, or take years to go through the system. This causes a lack of justice, an increased risk to the population as criminals continue to live amongst us, and it encourages crime (justice needs to be swift to act as a deterrent). - the loss of our capital city London. It is now predominantly populated by people who self identify as belonging to an ethnic minority. You rarely hear English spoken! This will impact tourism - a quarter of a million people work in the tourism sector in London alone. - greater difficulty in seeing a healthcare professional, especially one that speaks intelligible English, be it a GP, Consultant, or dentist - hospitals frequently declaring emergencies as their A&E queues of ambulances with patients stuck in them grow longer. Even hospitals, in areas with a vast majority of white British population, if you go to the A&E it will be full of people from the middle east, Indian subcontinent, and Africa. Often you won't hear English being spoken! - increased burden of disabled children, on healthcare, special education needs, and state benefits (both for disability, and for the unemployed parents that stay at home caring for their disabled children), unnecessarily caused by cousin marriage, from people from the Indian subcontinent - lack of school and university places. Pressures to change what is being taught, to suit a minority religious population - the enormous congestion on all of our roads. Even country lanes, which were once peaceful, have now become rat runs - religious and social tension, especially from ethnicities that are not interested in integrating - increased suffering of female children subjected to FGM and child marriage - increased distortion of UK elections, as women from the Indian subcontinent lose their vote to their husbands - loss of money spent in the UK economy, as migrants send it back to their countries of origin MORAL QUESTION - is it morally right to import cheap labour to be exploited? And what about those skilled migrants, eg nurses and doctors, that are actually needed in their own country. Is it morally right for the UK to benefit from poorer countries paying to educate and train skilled workers? MENTAL HEALTH BURDEN The effects of a lot of the above pressures, are seen in a rapid increase in mental health problems across all ages, but especially in the young working adults, adults who should, if anything, be the most resilient of society. FINANCIAL BURDEN The UK National Debt is over £3 trillion! Watch it growing in real time: www.nationaldebtclock.co.uk BIRTH RATE FALSE THEORY Some people believe in the theory, that we need to import people because of our lower birth rate, and that there is certain work that we don't want to do. This ignores the fact that we need to increase productivity, especially with automation/robotics/AI (Artificial Intelligence), because other countries will certainly be investing in this, and all of these REDUCE job vacancies - there will be fewer jobs in the near future! Our population might not apply for very low paid jobs, eg picking fruit, or nursing the elderly, but that is because the rates of pay are ridiculously low. Pay a fair wage in an economy that doesn't tilt the table by importing cheap labour! Young indigenous couples, avoid having children because they cannot afford to have them, or don't have the economic and housing stability that they need. This responsible approach to reproducing, is not shared by migrants coming to the UK - they are prepared to live in poverty, and have their families subsidised by the UK taxpayer. Whilst also importing their sick and elderly relatives. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Vote Reform UK! Whoever you decide to vote for, please vote, and encourage others to vote. More people didn't bother to vote (2,496,468) than voted (1,088,225) for Sadiq Khan. More people didn't bother to vote (47,533) than voted (12,335) for Galloway. More people didn't bother to vote (15,553,935) than voted (13,966,454) for the Tories at the last general election. If you don't vote, or you spoil your ballot, then that simply means that someone else who does vote, counts - and their interests might not align with what is best for us and our nation.

My friend, that was epic, and all true. If I could share comments I would send that to everyone I know. I've never voted for anyone in 50 years, I'm proudly voting for Reform this time.

If Angela Rayner is so concerned about the care of British citizens why did she and her party refuse to attend the commons debates on the excessive deaths of British citizens who continue to suffer and die as I type! The Uni-parties did however, attend a 'packed' commons debate on exemption from the Freedom of Information Act which led to the Daily Telegraph investigations into the MPs expenses scandal. If the uni-party want more immigration to keep pace then why did they not encourage young British couples to start families by providing adequate services and financial support. They are not capable of seeing beyond their eyelashes and rely upon knee jerk measures through taxing, vaxing and mandates. Remember that when the British public were locked down and faced heavy penalties during Covid, the uni-party ignored those very measures of containment; I need not remind you of partygate and beer with curry parties!
