Charlie, you might want to go to an ENT if you've never seen one. The way your motion sickness started sounds alot like a vestibular abnormality. I've seen many cases just in my clinical rotations this far that described similar symptoms, and events leading up to what you described. Might be worth investigating. Often times they're easily solved, or manageable to the point that you rarely have side-effects or symptoms from the issue. Motion sickness is generally something that develops in your pre-pubescent stages, and generally does not change in severity or frequency over the course of adulthood.
@dyamimc2 жыл бұрын
For Charlie: “What is vestibular balance disorder? Dizziness and vertigo are symptoms of a vestibular balance disorder. Balance disorders can strike at any age, but are most common as you get older. Your ear is a complex system of bone and cartilage. Within it is a network of canals. These are called semicircular canals. The canals are filled with fluid. The position of the fluid changes with movement. A sensor in the ear then sends the information to your brain to contribute to your sense of balance. These and other delicate pieces make up the vestibular system. Certain things can affect the signals from any of the parts of the vestibular system causing symptoms.” What causes vestibular balance disorders? “Common causes of vestibular balance disorders include: Medicines Infections Inner ear problems, such as poor circulation in the ear Calcium debris in your semicircular canals Problems rooted in your brain, such as traumatic brain injury”

@@czrlosfr Indeed, RMC (the company that made it) did a bang-up job with it. It's technically a retracking, not a new coaster, but it may as well be a new one as they basically had to bulldoze almost the entire top half of the ride and add new wood for it to be stable enough to handle the new track; Charlie really wasn't lying when he said it felt like it was about to collapse at any second. It's not even classified as a wooden roller coaster anymore, it's now a "hybrid" model (steel track with wooden support structure). It's also fast as balls, 1000x smoother, and it goes upside down in some places.

Sounds like the coaster screwed up your vestibular system. Mine has always been screwed up (it's an Autism thing) and have always had TERRIBLE motion sickness. As a baby I would constantly cry as soon as the car started moving, I could not (and still can't) go on any rides at ALL. Still to this day, I get super sick even on short car rides if I try to check a text, change a song grab something in a bag, etc (I can't drive yet, so not sure about that.) Some tips I got from my OT to help strengthen the vestibular system are doing things like trampolining, yoga, rolling on the floor, riding a scooter, and riding on a swing. Hope this helps for you or anyone else who suffers from motion sickness sees this. EDIT: grammar + spelling

Had a similar experience at Dollywood except it wasn’t motion sickness I got, I rode every roller coaster there (except for mystery mine which was down) and got the worst headache of my entire life. The headache was there but not too present and I was getting ready to ride a small family coaster called Dragonflier, I grayed out (which had never happened to me before) on this little ass family coaster! I got off feeling just like you described, but the difference between us is I still wanted more, I had another roller coaster I hadn’t ridden yet and I had to see it through, one which is ironically named Thunder Head. I got to the station and walked directly onto it and I mean there was no line at all I was destined to ride this! It was still a lot of fun, the adrenaline kinda canceled out the headache whilst I was on it, but when I got off I felt like the entire universe had just condensed onto my head. The walk back to the car was the longest excursion of my life, I rode this bumpy ass trolly instead of walking which in retrospect was an awful decision, damn near thought I accidentally stumbled back onto the roller coaster. Now every time I get a bad headache I’ll say to myself at least it ain’t as bad as the Dollywood headache

You are lucky you didnt ride mystery mine. That ride was the worst one i rode in dollywood. It has 90° turns at high speeds, and the carts are designed where there are two plastic or wooden planks on both sides of your head. Basically any time the ride turned at all you would bump your head against those things. Im surprised dollywood hasnt been sued for it. That ride alone is what gave me a headache, and nothing else did
@DouggyDougTontons2 жыл бұрын
So as someone who used to work gwazi as well as gwazi gliders for the children, that ride used to be absolutely terrible. Every morning we had the technician come out to give the “alright” that the ride was “operational” and that they didn’t have to replace any bolts that day. At the bottom of gwazi is what the staff called the “graveyard” where the bolts of the coaster would fall down from the ride and collect (or sunglasses/phones/crap people dropped). Millions and millions of screws and bolts on the ground. Worst part was having to ride the ride 3 times in the morning before letting people on, since it’s REQUIRED that staff is used before patrons. They have completely rebuilt gwazi now, but the damage I would hear people talking about after leaving is what ultimately made me leave the job. Busch is fantastic to visit as a patron, not so much as an employee though.

Yeah, there's a lot of semi-permanent inner ear issues you can develop that can produce symptoms like that. I had a nasty ear infection 7 years ago and have had some degree of vertigo issues ever since. It took about 2 years for my brain to compensate to the point where the world didn't feel slightly tilted when I was just walking outside, but even now I still can't sleep while turned onto my left side or I will suddenly feel an acute falling sensation after a while. Fortunately that last issue is the only real nuisance that remains now.

I too developed motion sickness from an amusement park. My friends and I went on "the strawberries", a ride where there are several circular rooms rotating around a single point like hands on a clock. In addition to this, these rooms were also spinning. You could control how fast they spun with this horizontal wheel in the middle, and my buddies span that shit so fast. I was all for it until it felt like my sense of time slowed down and I was struggling to ask them to stop spinning it. I got off and just sat on the asphalt. I'm a pretty self aware guy and would normally be too embarrassed to doze off in front of a bunch of strangers, but I was so unbelievable sick that I really just didn't care and I lied down until they got off. I felt like the type of person that parents would point at and warn their kids that they would end up like me if they did drugs, it was awful. Ever since then being a passenger in a car (especially riding back seat) or riding similar rides that involve spinning have made me sick.

Charlie, I have severe motion sickness too and it's because of a condition I sustained after a concussion. I don't think you had one, since you didn't say you threw up afterwards, but I do think you have some sort of inner ear issue. I used to ski, ride crazy roller coasters, all that jazz before getting the concussion. I have a thing called unilateral hypofunction. It's definitely odd that you got such severe motion sickness and still have it after a certain explicit event. I can't force you to do anything, but I recommend seeing a doctor of some sort. For me, my condition wasn't treatable through any means except time and physical therapy. Best of luck! Edit: I want to add that the way my condition was diagnosed was getting a test called a VNG test. They put some weird goggles on you and make you sit up and down really fast to test the motion of your eyes, since the balance nerve effects your eyes. If you were sick for an extended period of time, felt more unsteady, for more nauseous than usual for an extended period of time (for me it was a couple months) before everything seemed to steady out, I would get it checked out. For me, my balance issues never went away because it can't heal. Your brain adapts instead. I get motion sick easier than most people after about two years since. Your story about feeling dizzy after certain things like playing basketball or skateboarding is very relatable... which isn't good. For me, turning my head to look over my shoulder causes a dizzy spell. Which ... while driving is not fun, but the more I do it the more my brain is able to adapt to it. I hope you figure out some answers!!

is ear ringing have something to do with inner ear issue? though i dont have motion sickness.
@adamn30482 жыл бұрын
@@mohsentajik7876 Not necessarily. Sounds like you have tinnitus, which in most cases is due to damaging the fine hairs inside your ear canal from prolonged noise exposure i.e. listening to loud music for extended periods of time. There are some remedies you can try, some people wear hearing aids with a masking device if it's really bad, but there's not really any cure. If it just happens occasionally for a few seconds every so often and isn't too bothersome I would say you probably don't have to worry about it, but if it's constant and really bothering you there are some things you can try to lessen the symptoms.

There are little calcium crystals in your inner ear that help you keep balance. You might have whipped yourself around so much that your crystals are all outta wack and not where they should be. There’s is something called the epley maneuver that’s a way to reset your inner ear fluids and crystals.
