Im not a vegan and i love meat but i have been watching your channel for some time now and you have made me interested in trying these vegan foods. They look great and I will be making some of these. This is what vegans should do, be nice and welcoming and teaching about alternative options to food.
@InTheSkyGirl Жыл бұрын
You should see a reply further down where a meat eater says that "if you think this replaces chicken breast or thigh, you are sadly mistaken". He or she LOLs and everything at their diss/slight. But yes, it is us vegans who should be nice! Must keep the meat eaters' feelings and disposition top of mind. Most of us have encountered the other poster types numerous times. I'm not sure we need to go out of our way for the meat eating crowd.
@speed6-god Жыл бұрын
@@InTheSkyGirl Lol I think there is a misunderstanding. Vegans dont need to walk on egg shells around meat eaters. If they dont like it too bad. I know that not all vegans are annoying or aggressive. The comment I meant was for the vegans that give regular vegans a bad reputation. Both sides need to respect each other's choices.
@InTheSkyGirl Жыл бұрын
@@speed6-god but what counts as annoying or aggressive is subjective. Most of us vegans have been on the receiving end of ridicule and derision just when it becomes known that we are not eating meat. Just existing brings out the ire of many meat eaters. It gets tiresome fast. Many of us bow out of gatherings for a while or maybe permanently, to avoid the teasing. We just want to eat our food. Commune with friends. Few of us want to go into the whys, but we are compassionate people. The whys matter to us. Nobody likes having their values ridiculed especially when everyone in the room knows that those are sound values. If we are asked why we don't eat meat and give any reasons to make the inquisitor uncomfortable (animal suffering, environmental harm), we are pegged as holier-than-thou. How dare we try to live in accordance with our values. If we say something or nothing, we are annoying vegans. I get that it bothers meat eaters that our dietary ethics cause them discomfort. Our choice is a direct criticism of their choices without having to utter a word. There isn't any way around that. I'm glad when meat eaters are veg curious for whatever reason and try plant-based meals and enjoy them! But it goes beyond wonderful food creations like I've seen here on this channel. It is about suffering, cruelty, environmental effects, exploitation of the working poor/undocumented laborers who are employed in the industrial farm industry.... on and on it goes. For us, it is deeper than the chickpea and seitan wonders.
@Lord_Of_The_Fruit_Flies Жыл бұрын
@InTheSkyGirl you just proved the person's point 💀💀💀💀
@InTheSkyGirl Жыл бұрын
@@Lord_Of_The_Fruit_Flies nah, I think you just proved mine. No matter how we state the case, we are annoying to meat eaters. Did you read my response? I aimed to be as diplomatic as I could be in explaining the situation, but still the only acceptable vegan is one that is silent. I've found that even then, some meat eaters feel challenged or offended and must remark. Vegans should never mention their whys and never relay their hurtful experiences at the hands of meat eaters. It's like the unspoken rule for any minority group - don't make the majority mad/uncomfortable by speaking out about your treatment by the majority. Be a model minority. Bad minorites make their case in some form of protest or calling attention to injustices. There are very good reasons to not eat animals. There are other things to eat to be well nourished and we are tired of the subtle and overt harassment for taking that stance. That's really the sum total of what I wrote. I guess this response is going to be taken as annoying as well. How are we to have a dialog about any of the issues? Are vegans not to relay their experiences or show frustration - ever? Model minority. Constructive dialog brings understanding and change when needed. We need more and not less of that.

@@pattiannepascual I'm from England, we'd probably call them American biscuits to distinguish them from normal biscuits which you call cookies - whereas to us cookies are a type of biscuit that usually has chocolate chips in. It's kinda like how there's muffins and English muffins (weirdly enough, we still call them English muffins in England) however we don't really do the American versions of things much (muffins aside) since they're usually just modified versions of what we already have e.g. American football vs Rugby, Baseball vs Cricket/Rounders, Basketball vs Netball (though Netball's mostly for girls), American biscuits vs Scones, Mass shootings vs Mass stabbings, American pankcakes vs Scottish pancakes/Crumpets etc. It's kinda annoying though how we speak almost the same language but there's a just few words that translate badly and confuse the hell out of both sides of the Atlantic.

Of course you can the thing is to make a patty with a kilo of flour. Kind of on the dry side but as a fully round patty. Wait a little then rinse that in water (pressing it with fingers) until the water looks white and milk like. Throw that water. Do that step again as many times until the water is no longer white like milk. There you have perfect gluten seitan. Add seasoning steam, and do the same as him Serve the chickpeas aside
