If you cook your own chick peas, you can use just enough water, but no extra water. This makes the aquafaba much thicker. When I put the aquafaba in the fridge, it comes out as a solid. Not quite like jello, but going that direction.

This vid convinced me to give chickpeas a chance. Normally, I only like chickpeas for hummus. I don’t have a problem with legumes, I just prefer the texture of creamy pintos or maya cobas or lentils. Recipe looks great, so if I still don’t like chickpeas after this, I’ll just try the recipe with something else.

looks great. it's been a while, but I've previously prepped ~1 quart of general's sauce at a time (It's _extremely_ easy to throw together, as this video shows. and to customize) and kept that in the fridge (it will keep basically forever. it might outlast me, if it didn't get used to quickly) to then add to whatever protein I'm having for the night. it's great with air fried tofu cubes, but I never tried combining it with chickpeas. I'll give this a shot. (also I should really make another batch, it has been far too long, and it's so good. making it myself largely ruined takeout for me)

I wish I could grow chickpeas in my garden. Ive been trying to grow more beans overall, so that I can make more recipes like this.
@christines27873 ай бұрын
Dried beans take up a lot of room. Chickpeas, especially. We have the most luck growing black beans, but to be honest, the amount of space they take up in the garden isn't worth it. You can grow 10x, at least, the amount of pole beans as you can chickpeas in the same amount of space. Cost wise, it's better to grow expensive vegetables like tomatoes vs inexpensive ones like chickpeas

Hey gotta say i watched this last night and was pumped to try it. Printed off your recipe from your site, got to work on it for tonights dinner and your recipe is written so poorly its been ruined. Im sure it will still taste fine but i couldn't recall the video perfectly and rather than the written version supplementing its totally contradictory and says to add all the sauce ingredients to the chickpeas, then again all the sauce ingredients to a sauce pan. Little bummed, ill have to make it again another time following the recipe as written by Autumnstoptwo as that seems to actually be written out correctly.

Hi friend, until SauceStache can create you a good recipe, I recommend getting some smoked tofu, or some super extra firm tofu and slice it really thin, then marinate it in some flavorings and dry it out again in the oven. There are a lot of recipes out there for different kinds of tofu -based deli meat. It's definitely not going to be exactly the same, but I think with some good bread and all the fixin's, it comes pretty close to taste in the context of the sandwich

Open a can of baked beans, dried onions, couple tbsp ketchup, jalepeno sauce. Why fuss? Chickpeas dressed as gourmet is like putting lipstick on the pig you're trying to save. It's not meat, don't lie. Not as good as meat, not even close. Baked beans are not as "dry" tasting as chickpeas or lentils. But, definitely not as good as meat, even cheap $1.99 weiners.
