"Biffalo Countea" - I nearly died. Hilarious name suggestion. Great work. My most recent Cities Skylines build was destroyed with the Plazas DLC update (mod problems) and I've been disheartened for a few weeks, but I think I might take this map and your mod list and start anew. Cheers as always Biffa - I keep recommending your channel to people By the by - my housemate (who is forced to watch loads of your content) was looking for a way to entertain a couple of elderly people (one with severe dementia) for a few hours whilst some work needed to occur uninterrupted, and plopped them down in front of your UK build playlist and they were enthralled with the whole affair - super entertained by the commentary and fascinating build/expansion processes. Very helpful, and big thanks.

My oldest city which I still go back to between new builds has been around since the beginning, using lots of different mods over the years, and recently I had to once again almost completely revamped my mod list, and yet, my city is somehow still chugging along. Don't be impressed - I have no idea why it hasn't failed yet. LOL P.S. - definitely use the compatibility mod to check your mod list - its an insanely helpful tool. it recommends the mods to replace the ones you need to get rid of (nearly all of the must-have ones have been updated or at least patched).

I need to search out for replacements for the mods created by Bloody Penguin, no idea if he has any plans to patch the mods that he created

Buy anyhow, that 'mod' (tool?) helped me completely rebuild/replace nearly my entire mod list with little fuss. I still has some metro weirdness, but that was due to using some REALLY old assets, and not mod-related.

Suggestion for a backstory to the farms. Years back, the city was controlled by an empire. The emperor liked tea and when he heard about the fertile lands of the city he ordered the Imperial Tea Company to be established. The Imperial Tea Company established the farming area of the city. "In order to lead a nation, a man needs tea" -Emperor Chaius the third "in order to start a day, a person needs tea" -The slogan of the Imperial Tea Company

Biffa, you can unlock the fences in the cow pens with network multitool, and then shiftify them together to make a big open cow field or draw your own fences whatever shape you want. I always do that and I really like how it looks! 🤗

Biffa! when you use the parallel road tool and the quays come out facing the wrong way, just use move it to drag it around slightly and then press ctrl z to undo. it'll go back to its original position but facing the right way this time :)

You're going to get a ton of traffic issues where the pedestrian road meets the cutlet when your city grows. People will be stopping in the middle of the highway to pocket their cars and get on a sidewalk, just to unpocket their cars again to drive down their local road. It's a great idea, but I think more local streets would have to be converted first, as well as a place for cars to pull off the highway before people transition to the pedestrian area

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the reason buildings aren't deleting when you get rid of zoning (like with the parks) might be related to the settings within the Ploppable RICO mod. The "growable buildings can survive outside of the correct zone" is enabled for non-RICO buildings even by default. It also may be what happened a few episodes ago when houses weren't changing when the eco-friendly specialization was added, since there's also a "Growable buildings can survive without required district specializations" option. Like before, that's default to both RICO and non-RICO growables.

That suburban power line you're using has its own blue area around, same as the earthquake sensor, so you just need to bring it close enough to connect the blue area to the area you're trying to power. That's why I love those, you can place them on one side of the road to connect the other side.

Really loving this map. I like that you've built a bridge for your main road rather than just relying on the highway. As a 'traffic fixing' gimmic, maybe it'd be interesting to build this whole city with just the one highway junction so that none of the local traffic takes the highway!

Amazing work as always but I noticed when you did the farm fields you used move it and purposely slid the farm fields right up against your road. Most of the time in farm fields, at least in ours and the ones where I’m from , there’s a ditch or tiny dirt farm road between said field and road. Actual farmable ground that’s sowed is typically never right up against the main road they need a little wiggle room for maneuvering their equipment and implements around.

It’s so cool to watch another players thought process, I’ve always leaned towards building lots of big warehouses and setting them to balanced. It tends to make me a lot of money, but from watching your realize that a small warehouse yard set to empty is enough sometimes because it’s just a holding place for a truck to take it out and sell. The capacity hardly matters at all.

I wonder if changing that collector road through the center of town to a ped street might cause some traffic congestion or any problem with city services. Since emergency and some city services vehicles will drive down them, but they have to wait for the Ballards to drop and let them through. If a police car tries to drive down that road it will spend a lot of time waiting at every intersection, increasing response time and maybe(?) holding up traffic. But I can't build a city with less than 50% traffic, so maybe I shouldn't question Biffa!

Biffa, I have a question about water pollution: Sometimes I make a separate water networl for industrial zones so the sloped don't send the pollution down stream in the other parts of the city. What will happen with the no need for pipes option? Will the water supply act as if there was one pipe network or will the pollution stay confined and not play with the slopes? As for The Empire farm land, Reytha was the Empire's food production juggernaut in Star Wars...

Building Themes [manager] allows you to apply several themes to the same district. You shouldn't need to create a new district just for a row of shops.

Great video Biffa. For the future, when you place misbehaving quays, the multi network tool has an invert segment feature. From memory, it's the third or fourth icon from the top in the right hand column. This usually brings the errant quay into line.

FWIW, while that area on that map of the water already being setup looks nice, that cargo port is also "live" and will start complaining about trash eventually. Because of the water imbalance, and the complaints of services, I just deleted the water stuff and the cargo port from that area Idea name: "Rattler Cove" - could be a district name that offers Organic Commercial and Self Sufficient residential, and that would be the town that supports the fishing industry in that area. Can use the Fish Market as a center piece in the Organic Commercial area EDIT - OF course you've already released the next vid which is a fishing one, LOL Oh well. Um, Ratter Cove could still be some area near the water - how about a district paint w/ leisure and tourist commercial, as well as entertainment like marina and jet ski rental, ETC

I tried this map and found that working residential around and through the mountain was interesting. Also there is some Coal in then hills, and oil in the end. Rico + realistic pop is the best way to build a city.

@Biffa I just noticed that at about 22:56 when you were extending the garden area and putting up a fence, etc. that you should have put a rural road for those two since their back areas were fenced off and facing the gravel road with the Young Lindens on it. That's what I did and the space between that rural road and the 4 lane road I put in a few trees.

For maximum realism, put a frontage road along the highway and use the same zoning for industrial but only keep the billboards facing the highway.

No idea why various Cities Skyline's players regard an upgraded road as a 'price they pay' (until you hit things like 4 lanes etc) thing ... Speaking as someone living in a rural area we've fought the city and county to get dirt track roads paved multiple times and it has taken years. They wash out, they scratch and ding vehicles, crack windshields if someone is in front of you and their tires catch a bit of gravel and have to be maintained far more often than asphalt with grading every few years, fresh gravel when it wears down or washes out, etc. If the soil is predominately clay you wind up with the mud killing your grass and washing into your yard, gravel in places you don't want it... just tons of problems. In summary, dirt roads are NOT something that raises property values or to be desired.
