In 2004 I worked my tail off to buy my first nice truck when I was 16. Dropped $5k on an immaculate 1993 k1500 rcsb z71, factory bucket seats, 350 AT, victory red. I never drove it in winter all these years here in Maine. And I still have it to this day. I too wanted a gmt400 ccsb but an ‘07 ccsb LBZ classic made more sense for my needs. So i found one 4 years ago with 58k miles that had never been driven in winter Reason I still have the ‘93 is bc I love everything about that truck and my dad said when he was 16 he had a ‘67 GTO convertible 400 4 speed that he wishes he never sold and he told me to not make the same mistake. Not that it compares to a GTO haha

Local used car dealer had a 1996 K2500 suburban for sale and was asking $18,995. But it only had 100,000 miles and was the cleanest used car I have ever seen. It had gray leather with red stitching and of course the 454. We have a 99 K2500 suburban at work that is in really nice shape for having just under 300,000 miles on it. No rust anywhere, and the original engine an transmission. I seem to have the same bucket list as you do. Few years ago I almost bought a 96 two door 4x4 Tahoe that was in very nice shape and low miles and I think they were asking like $10,000, this was before the Covid tax.

So hi, if it where me I'd drop another 2000$ into a set of 5L porsche 928 32v cylinder head and serpentine setups on this and toss the pushrods in a box.. it would not only gain 130-150hp safe and permanent plus better gas mileage. The latter being why this truck just holds money like a leaky bucket. It like any big block burns too much gas, for the power they make out of the box. Then we pay to build them, loose all the investment almost immediately as most parts won't resell, then happily drive the machine we made into our "baby"lolol good luck!
@sportmedtech2 жыл бұрын
I actually think content wise this is a mistake. These GMT 400’s are getting hotter especially with new car chip shortages and the big push for electric vehicles. People want these old trucks and content online fixing and modifying is scarce. I would have dumped the AT4 while the market for newer used trucks is smoking hot. Plus as a former owner of an AT4 the truck is not what I had hoped. From clunky suspension, to interior squeaks to the infotainment system glitching out. I think the suburban would have made a great overland/camping rig especially where you live. With camping and off-roading videos getting tons of views this would have made a cool series.
@TXChevy2 жыл бұрын
Ditch the tow rig. Great plan

I believe procharger still makes a supercharger kit for the 454 trucks, although it is a centrifugal which means it makes most of its power gains at higher RPM. but as far as kits, I believe they may be the only one.

Basically a lot of time and space that you don't have 🤣
