One fox has mange

Sadly one of the foxes has mange. I have medication to treat it, but there are currently four foxes visiting regularly and I need to make sure that I dose the right one, so I need to establish a feeding regime for that fox. If you watch until the end of the video you will see that this fox is particularly nervous of any food offer which makes things harder. I will post updates to let you all know how things progress.

Thankfully we've never had mange in our foxes, but we have the medication ready just in case, for a fast response. Best of luck!

Worst case catch it and take it to a wildlife rehab vet, then bring it back. WAF Rescue does that kind of stuff.

Sarcophilic mange is a horrible condition. Whenever we hear about a suspected chupacrabra down Texas way, it's almost almost a coyote with mange. One time it was a badger with mange.

At present, the mange only seems to be in the tail and has not yet reached the rear part of the body. Be sure to add medicine to the food in good time. Foxes become very hungry, especially when there is a shortage. You don't notice this with this pretty fox yet because he doesn't eat much, as you wrote. Even if the other healthy foxes also eat food with medicine in it, it may be more beneficial for them. It is said that if the medicine is taken regularly, the disease is defeated after about 2 weeks. However, if the medicine is taken irregularly, the onset of recovery can be much later. It is important that the medicine begins to take effect in the sick fox and that the mange is stopped and does not spread further on the body. However, if the disease gets worse quickly, have the fox caught and treated by animal rescue. And please pay attention to the behaviour of the other foxes and whether they continue to appear healthy.

Our foxes had mange a few years ago, we were advised to put plenty of garlic in there food and it certainly worked, we now regularly do so.
