I like the succulent page u said was ugly. You're better than me, I'm not an artist so I like the functional better. I'm a woman, but I still like the functional better. I had daytimer first but gave it away to the thrift shop and then I had Happy Planner; too expensive and not enough room to write. Then I decided to try Bullet Journal again because I don't have to lug around the heavy planner and it works with any notebook. I do like different color washi tapes but now I have too many and barely use them. But I like yours because its more functional and I like the different ways you do your spreads. I got a lot of good ideas from you. Thank you!

Thanks so much for checking out the video. Functional is great. I find that it's all about how you work vs male or female. And I hear you on the washi. As much as I like them... i just dont use them as often.

Love the idea of an open page list - I just started doing that the other day but instead of a sticky note, I wrote them in the index in pencil as ‘blank page’, to be written over when the page was used. I like your sticky note much better! Thanks!

I love your "brass tacks" approach to this. I love to see all the creatives out there with their beautiful and artistic spreads. I am an artist too, but honestly.. When it comes to organizing my life and business, I just don't have time to make all of those beautiful spreads. I need a planner to function as efficiently as possible without having to spend all my time setting it up to try and make it beautiful. Your channel is SO helpful!

Wow this was really nice to watch. I felt like I'd watched ALL of the bujo videos out there, but then I stumbled upon this! I got my first journal last year. I got the one with dots in case I wanted to draw in it. A few weeks ago I got a journal with lines because I used it mainly for writing... Now I see what the "journal with dots" was for! I started getting the bullet journal video recommendations a few weeks too late!! This is really cool. I may have to get the journal with dots again!

I’m thinking of trying a grid lined journal. I find sometimes it’s hard to stay in the grids when using a table to track stuff. So I found myself drawing in the lines and I don’t have the time or energy for that. With grid I would have the lines and the reference points. If you get my drift.

Hi Mark- enjoy videos. I have a video suggestion - One thing I've always struggled with is digital vs analog. What data to keep in each like paper planning and sensitive data storage and referencing in something like OneNote or Notion etc?. Just a thought. I haven't seen any videos on that at all.

We all change in style and approach over time. I'm just one guy doing his thing over here.
@Zoe-kk5zd3 жыл бұрын
I’m really torn about this because distinguishing this as a MANS bujo makes it seem like someone has a real fragile masculinity, but in the other hand it’s full of interesting methods and cute doodles. Great videos. Channel name rubs the wrong way. ( “a guys” wash tape. Really?)
@markyourpages3 жыл бұрын
You are very on point. I struggle with it too. I’ve come to better recognize it as a style vs gender. As a guy in a very female heavy community, I get a lot of questions about my style as a guy, so the title is more for those searching for a guys perspective on the system versus. The channel / account name is an area that I’ve looked into reconsidering too, as I know it has turned people off from engaging with me. But once they do, they realize that I’m not close minded, instead trying to stand out as a smaller group of the community. I hope you understand.

I really like these videos, great seeing your style attempt after attempt. But if you are actually using a bujo, and every week it different... You are craftbooking, not bullet journaling
@markyourpages3 жыл бұрын
Hey there Hugh. Appreciate you watching. I haven’t heard the term craft booking before. I’ll have to look into it. The only thinking that I change is my approach or layout of my weekly of daily collections, so maybe someone could say I’m making a custom planner. My approach may look a bit different than how you might approach it - but at the foundation we are the same. I actively use my core collection pages (index, future log, monthly, weeklies, dailies). I use rapid logging and signifiers to identify and prioritize my tasks, notes, and events. I migrating weekly and monthly to keep myself on point, and also creating collection pages of liked content. Aside from adding some extra design to a weekly, I’m curious on why you would say that this isn’t my bullet journal? And I hope that doesn’t sound argumentative, that’s not my approach, but I am genuinely interested in understanding your comment.

@@markyourpages Quoting Kayla "I just don't have time to make all of those beautiful spreads. I need a planner to function as efficiently as possible without having to spend all my time setting it up to try and make it beautiful." So again, thank your for your efforts; saves me lots of troubleshooting to find an efficient plan. However, The basic concept of bullet journals are to make life more efficient by visualizing your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly obligations, helping you to hold yourself accountable. Spending hours per year redesigning layouts is counterproductive to to the core concepts of bullet journaling. Don't believe me? Start a habit tracker "time spent bujo'ing" then think about the tasks your could be completing, or the people you could be spending that time with... Or it terms of the business you are building; Income divided by Time.
