And I chose the path more bloody. Neil Thomas is the host, and John Lambshead brings the snacks in this Napoleonic encounter between two asymmetrical forces in a deep wood.

""Twas a famous victory!". The British aggressiveness paid off... while the more cautious French probing for most of the game did not. There is a fine line between pushing your luck and waiting for a better opportunity to arrive. The establishment of a forward British "base of fire", was crucial in dominating the ground. This made it a lot harder for the French Lieutenant to move his troops where they were needed. Sometimes, you just have to throw caution to the wind, summon up the blood, grasp the nettle, take your lumps, and close with the foe.

This is a game you can play with anyone but I’m watching the play get smoother each time. Love the combination of books. It really is coming down to ‘what rules are the simplest framework’ with ‘what rules offer the opportunity for research, inspiration and the odd spicy house rule?’

Excellent production! Thanks so much for making this and sharing it with us. I've just picked up these rules myself so it's great to see them in use - always a good way to learn a game. Please keep 'em comin'!

Leff - tenant, not loo-tenant. Classy. Wargaming is surely more than just a game, it's an education and an insight into cultural oddities. Like language.

Scenario seems balanced enough. French seemed to be a little unlucky especially with their firing. They might still have had a draw if on their last action they'd charged down the hill and bayoneted the downed cavalry (automatic victory in close combat vs downed figures) instead of firing at the single one still standing. Depends how one wants to judge control of the ford.

Good video, great to see the NT scenarios getting adapted to skirmishes.

They work a lot better when you incorporate the higher costs for second and third moves.

@@TheJoyofWargaming yeah, I noticed that too.

Looks like a good game. I finally put together my Napoleonic figures and have been playing the 2*2 rules (scaled up a bit for 1:72) unfortunately I decided to renovate my game room so now I'm out of action for a bit. Extremely jealous of you now.

I believe in One-Hour Skirmish the rules call for an instant casualty if the defender is downed in a melee. Might have been worth finishing off the british cav and contesting the fjord, but seems they ran out of time any. fun battle.

Man, the action point economy was not kind to the French in this game, and the artillery didn't help that.

I use a pile of glass beads to track AP. Just pull them from the middle and then pay them back as you spend them.

Are you doing the firing and reloading correctly ? Rules say canon takes three AP to fire and reload, muskets take 2 AP to fire due to the extra time taken to reload. Firing and reloading appear to be one unit with different costs for each type of weapon. I just got the rules thanks to your videos. Keep up the good work

To track your AP, use d20s, or get a pair of those health/victory point dials.
